How about NOTHING glows or sparkles or flashes, except until after you scan with your tricorder. After 30 seconds you would need to scan again.

This could be used as a storytelling tool as well as facilitating people who want to find interactable objects in their surroundings.

Yeah...that was a good choice of Dev time to change the interactive effects.
At least they weren't wasting time making silly things like mission content...

Using the tricorder is the most effective way to find interactable objects in the game.
Honestly I don't think there needs to be interact effects whatsoever and if they do make it optional I will most certainly turn it off.
The interact effects blow realism and immersion out of the water, the most faithfully rendered environments are turned from looking realistic to looking absurd, all to accommodate people who are too lazy or too stupid to look at their environment carefully.
Places like the exchange don't need any kind of effect, once you get close enough to associated consoles you get a button popup to activate whatever you need anyway so the effect is unneeded overkill. Icons are already floating over interactable NPCs so if anything why not just put icons floating over interactable consoles.
Ground missions are a great deal less interesting when you don't have to search for a needed object because it is glowing stupidly in plain sight. If any kind of indicator is needed, the same icon used for unscanned anomalies would be more than sufficient.
All this glowing and sparkling is just a stupid looking irritant that ruins the environment for people that want to immerse themselves in the game.

More attention needs to be paid to people that want to play the game than those that want to be spoon fed it.

Yes, this! Make it necessary for us players to investigate, look around, collect clues, DO SOMETHING worth of an explorer. It is that simple. But instead, everything which is not related to shooting someone is toned down so much to make sure you don't "waste" a single second in this game before you can "advance" it's really an insult for anyone with more than two brain cells.

Word for word in agreement with this.

Why is there a glow from consoles/items we can interact with and how do I turn it off?

That effect replaced the 'gears' over consoles. Get used to it.

Actually gears replaced the glow, and the glow has now reclaimed its place from the usurper.

Let's hope that an option to turn off interact effects is included in some future patch, the glowing objects is one of the most boneheaded "enhancements" added to date.

Just wish the devs would leave stuff alone that was perfectly fine beforehand, and put that effort and time into fixing the bugs that have been in the game since beta!
