I agree (with turning it off and with it looking like a transporter effect). But I could live with it if it were slightly smaller/shorter.

I will say that it did help me find those dang PADDs on our Starbase last night

On certain objects, on certain maps, the holo-shimmer is easy to miss at first glance unless you're close by.

All the consoles have been infested with Medusans, they wanted to be featured in the game, but if they were in full view, we'd all be driven mad, so the devs shoved em in the consoles.

They probably don't have the graphics any longer. But it shouldn't be that hard to reproduce it. The radioactive fire effect is not that noticeable to me. But the idea of consoles jumping up and down and waving at me is most likely the direction the game will head.

I just logged in to take care of some DOFF missions and finally saw what all this 'interactive console on fire' hubaloo is all about. And, I'm afraid I must heartily concur with what seems to be an overwhelming majority of the player-base, in saying that this new effect is absolutely awful!

It looks as though someone is attempting to beam out those consoles. That, or they look to be suffering from an electrical fire of some sort. What have you. It simply looks awful and sadly breaks one's in-game sense of immersion.

Can't say that I would support the floating gear either, whilst I must admit that it looks better than those dreaded energy spikes.

This was seriously an unnecessary change, as the interactive consoles were fine as they had been, before the last patch.

The Ferengi have just sent a message to Starfleet Command, it reads as follows: "All yer consoles are belong to us, so we're takin em". Starfleet security has erected forcefields around all system consoles with but the result is that all affected objects are caught in transit.

Honestly all they need to do is have it set up so the effects don't happen until you mouse over the consoles, I have never had a problem finding an object in missions, that's what the freakin tricorder is for. If they must have the stupid effect for the really dense among us then at least give us an option to turn the interact effects off.

I would rather have a holographic plaque floating in the air over consoles than have them look like I'll get irradiated using them.

I usually applaud improvements to the game but for this one I have to ask what particular medication was the genius that thought this one up taking?

Here is a crazy idea....

How about just making the consoles glow, perhaps have words on them like "Bank", "Mailbox", "Exchange" etc...and have them clickable rather than this odd interaction distance sphere that is sometimes no where near the objected center????

Why do they have to do anything? Why can't there just be tool tip that says, mailbox, exchange, etc. when you mouse over it?

This was a waste of coding time that would have been better spent on something more important, I thought that the previous glowing with an icon was overkill, now it's just ridiculous looking.

What's the point of creating realistic environments to go and spoil them by having interactable objects glowing like the burning bush of Biblical lore.

What's next, Majel Barrett's voice saying "I'm a mailbox" when you get near it so that even a blind person can find it?
