# 1 Excelsior & the 8/9/2012
08-09-2012, 11:07 AM
Patch Notes for today.

Quote:
Season 6 changed the based HP and Shield modifier of the T5 Excelsior.

This was not working as intended and is fixed now.
The Excelsior's HP and shield modifier is now reverted to its pre-season 6 values.
Is this a buff to the HP and shields or a nerf? Major change or minor change? I can't seem to find the info on this.

Improvements on Excelsior shields/hull that came with season 6 was a bug. They are just bringing it back down to its original values (supposedly).

I guess my question is it a big change? I'm leveling a tact officer and I wanted to fly a crusier end game. I'm just curious if this means there are better options than the Excelsior to pick now.

Great, I was unaware of the bug and was wondering why my Excelsior was doing so well at tanking on STFs. Hopefully now it won't suck. What was the bug to hull? It was still displaying as 39,000 for me on my stats until I got into a map and the bonus from SIF kicked in.

It had higher base hull than the Odyssey there for a while, 42,000 and change. It's getting dropped back down to 39,000.

It is a nerf, but it's worth mentioning that the ship did enjoy a very strong following at that hull for a long time, and remains the only LTC tactical cruiser for Feds (though that'll probably change when we know the stats for the Regent).

Weird then, it showed up as 39,000 for me the other day prior to the patch.

Maybe that's how it was reported but the actual numbers were higher? Or the patch could have been applied piecemeal as they were gearing up for the downtime.

It was showing properly, not sure why you didn't see it. For example, there's already threads from people who liked the bug and want it back:

I haven't pulled mine out of mothballs since season 4, but in the shipyard it was showing 42900 as well.

I admit to be one not pleased with it. I pulled mine back out and was loving the survivability, plus the TW drive (even if it does fail time to time, the nacells arching and the car stallout sound crack me up)

Plus, i love the look of the older line ships, I grew up on that generation. After star wars, star trek I and II were the first 3 movies my young life saw at the drive in with my grandparents- yes kids, the Drive in

OK, bring the shileds back down, but supposedly the C-Store version that I have has been upgraded for 24th century use. So give me a hull/or shileds near the odyssey, so sick of being in events and the odyssey is all you see. Give Cruiser people a choice, trade one thing for another sure between ships, but still give us a reson for variety, other than a better turn rate.

Sighning off...
