Was thinking about running an Armitage once my Tac gets to VA, but saw something misleading on the C-store stats. It says for the Armitage and the Thunderchild the turn rate is 15 degrees per second. This can't possibly be right because the turn rate on my DSSV is only 13 deg/sec and it turns much, much faster than my Thunderchild does. Is this is a miss-type on Cryptic's part? Seems my LRSV was also a lot more mobile.
Those are the base specs, which are in turn affected by your console, skills and other factors. If you want to make a "true comparison", zero out your skills, strip the ship of consoles, and then try timing the turns.
Escorts have better turn rates than Science vessels. 15/sec is correct for the Armitage and T3 Akira. But those are base turn-rates. As kylesal said, consoles, equipment and skills change what your final turn-rate is.
Possible reasons you got more from the DSSV:
- You had a different engine that gave a better turn-rate boost
- You were running more a higher engine power on the DSSV
- You were running an RCS Console on the DSSV
- If it's two different characters, you might have more skills in Impulse Thrusters on the character using the DSSV and LRSV
My Armitage currently puts out 27.4 degrees per second in the turn after my skills are added. That's on 65/40 engine power and no RCS console. Not gotten that on my Science ship. You can check your own turn-rates (after skills, console buffs etc. are added) if you go to a system map, start moving, bring up your ship status and look at the "Movement" tab.
Even if it's the same character he could have put the skill points into things that boost impulse turn and speed or engine power after the Thunderchild.
Try your Thunderchild again with the Engine from your Deep Space it should turn better.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
