As for the torpedo, it works exactly as it's described: it has a 180 firing arc instead of the standard 90. But you can only have one at a time on any ship. Other than that, nothing special as far as we know.

And yeah, the Regent class is exactly the same as most other C-Store ships: 9 consoles and a added console ability. Only the flagships and Fleet ships are above this Tier, by statistics... so it seems you have the wrong idea.
Yep, gotta agree with Trek21 and others on this. It is as good as the other ships in tier 5. Depending on how the two unique features work out, it may turn out to be better.

I'd say its better because of the wide arc quantum torpedo, though I kinda wish it had two Acc mods along with the Arc mod.

Plus with this in the c-store they will probably re-release the t5 fleet version which will get the discount.

I suspect most people who bought the Excelsior will buy this. Why? Because its basically a +1 Excelsior.

Its not even a sovereign refit as much as an excelsior one. Its simply better in every way. Does away with the useless ensign engineer slot in favour of a valuable tactical one plus gains fun console / torpedo.

Anyone else wish they hadn't spent 2k cryptic points on a now-obsolete ship?

Well they posted the stats on that wide arc Quantum and let's guess that it scales to mk 12.

As for the ship. C-Store ship is 9 Consoles with a Unique and the Fleet variant which you'll get for just an extra fleet Module will have 10 consoles.

As I see it, Having a much requested BOFF layout, Console and a Weapon it's a bit more value than a Console ship with a Good BOFF layout.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

I fly the excel and I doubt that I'll mess with this new C-Store ship, at all. It's basicly a trade off for TT1 that costs ET1 and that's about it, except for a console I doubt I'd use at all. And......, it turns not quite as good as the excel. I believe I'll keep my ACC torps as well as we still haven't seen if the damage (DPS) is consistant with what's out there ATM. I'd almost be willing to bet that there will be a DPS loss in the comparables.

I just do not see the Excel +1 aspect. But, I would probably buy a "fleet" version of the Excel. And could also, in fact, get me to start PVPing again against 10 console escorts. My fleet escort now runs the same exact resists that my Excel does only the escort has about 2/3rds more comparable damage to it.

Why?

I love it!

I know a Cruiser is here to tank and heal, but this one does it quite well for PvE.

And I always wanted a Sov. with more tactical potential just for fun! ... but 25 ? are pretty much and since I can't pay with ? in PWE I will buy it with Dilithium

The people railing against the Console count on this ship are probably expecting it to be an upgrade like we saw from the Intrepid to the Intrepid Refit. When they released the C-store Refit, it gained a console slot.

But guess what? It was also an upgrade of a T4 ship.

The Sovvy is T5, it follows different logic than many other ships. Only one other T5 ship (on the Fed side) has been released like this: The MVAM Prometheus. And its Cstore version only has 9 consoles.

So maybe do a little research before flying off the handle. Don't think this is worth your dime? Fine, don't buy it. But don't waste everyone else's time on the forums complaining about something that you failed to properly understand.

And the Bellerophon was a T3-to-T4, and not even a T5 (unless you meant the retrofit and not the refit), in which case the extra console is standard practice (like the Sao Paolo).

Personally I think the reason they're surprised is that they don't pay attention to ANY C-store ships that aren't refits of popular designs. So when a Sovvy (high demand) or an Intrepid or a Defiant comes online and doesn't fit the earliest, potentially unbalanced pattern, they flip out, no matter if the precedent was set by other, less known ships.

We get the sovereign with same mechanics, new skin, a console that is more than likely going to be very bad considering how most are and unknown torpedo launcher we know nothing of the mechanics about. Sorry but this needs to be changed. No one is going to buy this ship except to park it in the hangar bay.

It offers ZERO incentive to buy for except to waste money.

Great going Al Rivera.
No fleet Garumba or Fleet Galaxy-X either, but those come with the Javelin and Lance. Wait the Regent comes with a built in special explosive fart generator...
If you are a pickle in a pickle jar you know every pickle's different, sort of, but really they're all just pickles...
They taste the same.
