We got the new torpedo from the lockbox. But how about the polaron and phased polaron torpedos from DS9, voyager nanoprobe torpedos, and gravimetric torpedos? All the torpedos need a lil love. So what do you guys think?

I would invest in temporal warheads, myself. Though tbh, they'd probably be along the same lines as transphasic torpedoes :/

^ don't you mean Chroniton?

anyways, I remember a thread a few months back asking that all the energy types be transformed into torpedo equivalents. Nice idea except that canonically, tetryons, polarons, antiprotons, and disruptor energy can't be fired in anything other than energy form.

.... or at least can't be used in torpedo form.

I hate beam boats, yet everyone gets mad at me because I'm in a cruiser and use torps. Torpedoes could use a bit of love.

So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

^ I don't mind if a cruiser uses a torp. I just get mad when a Tactical officer uses a cruiser because it's "cool", and they think they can do more DPS than an escort, so they fly off to go tackle the transformers in KASE without saying anything while the patrol escort has no choice but to take the probes.

Polaron Torpedoes were never used in canon, but were in the Activision games such as Armada and SFC3.

Don't recall there beign "Phased Polaron Torpedoes", but there were Phased Plasma Torpedoes used in Bridge Commander.

So highly doubt Cryptic can use these without running into copyrights issues.

Could see Nanoprobe Torpedoes being used against Undine.

Gravimetric Torpedoes could be easily implemented in STO as Torpedoes with mini Gravity Wells, similar to the Shockwave Torpedoes.

Spatial Torpedoes: Could see this being more of a kinetic warhead with fast reload times. Or warheads with proximity explosives.

Antimatter Torpedo: (Similar to the Photon, but more explosive).

Stratospheric Torpedo: Launched from Planets.

Pulse Wave Torpedo: Used to counter Subspace Ruptures.

And there are others, even various types like Class 6 Photon Torpedoes, that were maximum yield explosives. Or illumination Torpedoes. So many other types of photon uses as well.

Polaron torpedos were in DS9 used by jem hadar and sold to them by one of the dominion races, one was fired into the side of the defiant and didnt detonate, they had to disarm it before it went off.

The federation was in talks to buy some of these torpedos from that race when the whole thing took place. So they are cannon. Klingon empire aquired some and began to use them on their larger ships.

And photon torpedos use anti matter as the warhead, as most do.

um being the escort with dps you should be taking the probes.. a cruiser cant always kill them in time when you get 3 or 4.

A few months ago, I made the suggestion of a gravimetric torpedo creating a gravity well effect after watching through Voyager and noticing how often they used those to that very effect.

Responses were less than enthused.
