When I was commander I bought the Ning'tao http://http://www.stowiki.org/Norgh_...ng.27tao_class
I liked its quad cannons. So I would like to put it on my Bortasqu. But I have a big problem.
My bortasqu is a beam boat. How to set up my lovely Bortasqu to use canon?
I'm using Bortasqu command. I'm sci.
Could you help me, please?
you can simply swap your beams for cannons and your beam powers for cannon powers. but remember you lack turn rate and cannons have restricted firing arcs. So you would have to add rcs consoles and probably honor guard engines and use evasive manuevers alot just to stay on target.
Actualy reading things pefore posting will make you look smarter than yelling loudly. Reading comprehension is aparently a lost art.

I'd honestly recommend a 'one or the other' scenario.
If you are using only beam arrays, you probably have a beam special ability(s) ready and waiting. If you are only using cannons, you have one or more cannon abilities waiting.
The exception is if you are using one weapon so you can use an ability. Like an escort running a DBB so you can use Beam Overload 3.
Running a cannon on the front with all other beam arrays, probably wouldn't be good, even if you are using disruptor beam arrays. Unlike beam abilities, which have some usage, such as BO, FAW, and subsystem targetting, the two cannon abilities are pretty much all damage based.
Now, if you were running cannons/turrets with at least one beam array or DBB, then ok, np, just know of the very small firing arc that you're gonna have with the Quad Disruptor Cannons.
RCS consoles are a must, deuterium from the daily helps as does evasive and boffs that decrease evasives cd. HG engines, can also go with jem'hadar engines until you get them. essentially everything you can do to boost turn rate without giving up too much defense/offense.
plan ahead most important. if stf's this is easy as the spawns and enemies are always coming from the same places.
don't be afraid to hit reverse to swing around. tractor beam doesn't hurt either for holding a target either until you can swing around, or in front of you to chew up at your leisure.
45 arc cannon bort build not easy, takes planning. but very worthwhile. 3 cannon builds myself, tac, eng, and sci. they take a lot more brain sweat than escorts or beam boats.

There you go. That shows some of the Doffs and associated Bridge Powers that make using cannons on a Bortas much easier.
DEM was left out of this build, it has since been added in.
Somewhere on this forum there is a small angry child that may try to tell you that a cannon Bortas can't be done. Give him a jar of paste and send him on his way.
