I am priming a science officer for a new Fleet Recon Science ship, and have been experimenting with phased tetyron. It seems to have less damage than the polaron set I was using, taking forever to kill one on one. I switched to antiproton, and felt much better about things, but after yesterday's patch, went back to phased tetryon. While the proc is noticeably better than before, I think I am going back to antiproton.

Perhaps I am skewed by the fact that I have only experimented with the improved tetryon proc against borg in elite STFs. Is anyone impressed with phased tetryon weapons?

Tetryon is most effective as a shield-stripper, and I use tetryon wepaons on my sci-ship, as it can be quite potent combined with the shield target subsystem ability. Though I have to say that I've never really noticed the proc on the phased-tetryon weapons when I've used them.

I think it depends on playstyle and ship setup style.

I never liked shield stripping builds because I like my primary beam weapons to demolish high HP npc targets on their own, so I never really liked anything besides disruptors. This means tetryons are on the back burner for me.

Disruptors are great for taking down hull. I think they are generally on par with antiproton, just for the fact that you can get them with more accuracy mods.

I have been spoiled by carrier builds that rely on energy drain, but since I don't have pets in the Recon, I need to put more in weapons and less in aux, so Energy Siphon 3 is my first debuff, the Tyken's goes on while I dance around a single facing while torpedoing their hull for good measure. She survives elite STFs quite well, and parking sideways just close enough gives me good gate damage on KASE... with antiproton. Phased Tetryon... meh.

tetryon was my fisrt choose when I start playing a science ship, but I stopped using them because I usually play as support ship in a team and the dps of other ships stripped shields faster than me. Now I use disruptor.

Tetryon is probably the weakest modifier, but when you use Phased Tetyron weaponry you get the proc for free, so it's still awesome.

I use the Phased tet, and while it is underwhelming on hull, it is excellent on shields when combined with tachyon beam and other shield stripping skills.

I actually like the new proc changes. I can strip the shields off a dreadnought within a four minutes solo. Pain in the ass to do, but possible.

i run mainly tets because they are cheep, acc2 beam arays are easy to get from the dil store, and pared with tetryon glider and maxed out flow cap they make shields disappear noticeably faster then any other energy type, while using cannon rapid fire. they are great for pvp, but useless on npcs that don't balance their shields and are just hitpoint spunges. the proc and even glider damage is just a drop in the bucket to them, plus all you need is 1 down facing on an npc to shoot through, trying to take thier entire shield grid down to nothing isn't necessary..

I run a combination of MK XI Phased Tetryon and Fleet MK XII Tetryon on my escort and I couldn't be happier. The thing with Tetryon is, as said above, it's a shield stripper. You use your Tetryon weapons to drop their shields then move in for the kill with a torpedo salvo. I use Quantums, personally and it works wonderfully.
Previously I used MK XI Antiproton beam arrays and with my current set up I can kill NPC's three times faster than with the Antiprotons.
Hope this helps.

I use them on an escort armed with 2 quantum torpedo launchers, and they're great at disabling the shields before the torpedos hit. I never found their damage to be lacking. Quite the opposite.
Don't fall for the fake advertising: Guild Wars 2 is a WoW clone and a poor one too.
