My Tac Odyssey "Build" (and I use that term loosely) is based around one simple goal - Stay alive.

Since it's the ship I use for STFs, it currently has five Borg phasers (waiting on a salvage to have six) and fore/aft Borg quantums. I use 6 beams/2 torps for three reasons:

1. The power drop from eight beams makes them less attractive than using six, in my opinion.
2. If you've got front and rear torps, turn rate is only half the problem you think it is!

As for turning, while I do have a purple MK XII RCS console, I only use one. I'm also using the three Odyssey consoles, so that helps the turn rate a bit. I also use Aux to Dampeners 2 a lot, which really helps when I need it too, especially if I've gotten a boost from one of my Doffs from using an emergency power to weapons, shields, or Aux. There's always the Red Matter Capacitor if I need a little extra power, and I'm using the battery exocomp too.

I guess my point is, if you can keep your power levels up, and have a few hull heals to fall back on (Aux to SIF 3, HE 2, ET 2, plus Work Bees and Miracle worker in my case), not to mention shield heals like Sci Team, EMPtS +RSF and RSP, your Odyssey can be like mine and bore people to death in PvP trying to kill it.

My Sci Odyssey, though, it's got 6x phased polarons and my Jem'Hadar set on it... it's my Purple Polaron Death Toy. I used to do MUs exclusively in it before I got my Armitage.

My 2 pence, for what it's worth.

I flew cruisers as an Eng all the way up to Vice Admiral, then bought the Oddy 3-pack (played f2p up to then, thought I'd pay the devs something as well as get something out of it myself).

Out of the 3, the Science Oddy is my favourite: the +10 shield power with a Mk XII Maco shield and a huge amount of hull is good, you can whack a couple of decent plasma distribution manifolds with a couple of neutroniums in the engineering console slots (and stick the borg console in one of the science slots) and with sensor analysis you're cooking on gas. the +10 aux means you heal better (for you and t'others). Two decent field generators and a shield regen console in the other sci slots.

I find the engine and deflector the difficult bits to think about. I always stuck borg engines and deflector on, and hardly ever popped. But did do jack-stab damage. I'd consider the maco XII deflector for the set bonus (it's a much better deflector than the borg, and the set bonus is better than a lot of people think), but the next time I fly the USS Murkleton i'm thinking abut banging an omega deflector and engines on her: might mitigate some of the "running in treacle" effect.

Standard cruiser weapon load in my opinion (3xbeams and 1xtorp, front and rear).

However, if you haver all 3 don't bother with the 3 universal consoles on the same ship: the passive bonus is guff.

As a tank? Park between gate and tac cube in Infected Elite, fetch a cup of coffee, kick back and relax. Properly set it's an amazing ship. Not too fond of the looks though, but that's my opinion of most Fed ships anyway sans Atrox and couple escorts.

most annoying thing is the phasers coming off the ends of the nacelles.

Well can't have everything be perfect, and who knows, maybe phasers off the nacelles gives more power XD
