As with my Sovereign-class Enterprise-E build, this is for the U.S.S. Defiant. I only made it for the Retrofit because the Retrofit has the Cloaking Device. Wouldn't be the Defiant without it.

-Colors
Have not quite figured this out yet. Hull 2 or 3, Windows 4..
as for the primary and secondary colors, I chose E13 for primary and C3 as secondary.

-Patterns
This was a guessing game.
Saucer - Ares
Hull - Orion
Nacelles - Andromeda
Pylons - Sagittarius

-Weapons
Fore:
Phaser Quad Cannons (Only obtainable from the Sao Paulo-class refit.)
Quantum Torpedo Launcher
Quantum Torpedo Launcher
Phaser Dual Beam Bank

Aft:
Phaser Beam Array
Photon Torpedo Launcher
Photon Torpedo Launcher

Bridge Officers
Like I said, this is for the Tactical Escort Retrofit ONLY.

Commander Tactical
Tactical Team 1
Cannon: Rapid Fire 1
Torpedo: High Yield 3
Cannon: Rapid Fire 3

Lieutenant Commander Tactical
Tactical Team 1
Attack Pattern Delta 1
Attack Pattern Omega 1

Ensign Tactical
I have Torpedo: High Yield 1, but anything you like would go here.

Lieutenant Engineering
Engineering Team 1
Emergency Power to Shields 2

Lieutenant Science
Tractor Beam 1 (The Defiant had a Tractor Beam)
Hazard Emitters 2 or Science Team 2

Consoles
Cloaking Device and an Ablative Armor console are a must. You may want to try some Phaser Relay consoles as well as the Zero Point Quantum Chamber. You might also want to put a Biofunction Monitor and Emergency Forcefields console on it, as well.

I hope you enjoy this, and look at my Sovereign build as well

Not sure why you changed the colors around as the default ones are the Defiant's.

For the weapons it should look more like this.

Fore
Quad Phaser Cannons
Quantum Torpedo
Quantum Torpedo
Phaser Beam Array

Aft
Phaser Beam Array
Photon Torpedo
Photon Torpedo

The boffs look fine, except TS2, the Defiant never hurled out a dozen quantum torpedoes at once, they were always single target attacks. Sticking with the rapid fire and high yield is best.

RSP is fine for actually surviving in the game, but the Defiant didn't have a "Press the Oh **** button to bring the shields back to full!" The Eng boff should be EPTS1, EPTW2.

I don't know why you guys are recommending the photon torpedoes for the aft slots, the Defiant always had quantum torpedoes fore and aft.

Yes, I know that the aft torpedoes looked like photorps in 'Paradise Lost', but they were never referred to as photorps, always as q-torps. Hell they were never consistent with the vfx for the forward q-torps anyway. In 'Defiant' they were blue, in 'For the Uniform' and 'Sacrifice of Angels' they were blue, but in 'Rules of Engagement' the forward q-torps were yellow/organge like photorps looked on later seasons of TNG and DS9, and they were the same in another season four episode, 'Shattered Mirror'.

BUT, regardless of the colour of the q-torps, they always sounded the same, and they never sounded like photorps do. There's a distinct difference in both sfx.

As for the other weapon selections, I have quad phasers for my Defiant (I too shelled out for the Sao Paulo class), forward and aft q-torp launchers (one of each), and I initially had beam arrays. But the thing is, the Defiant's beam array had at least one 360' arc. You can see this in 'Shattered Mirror' a couple of times. So I dunno, maybe having a forward beam array with an aft beam array fits, but I kinda wish we had beam turrets.

As for the layout, I kept everything default since that looked right. For the Boffs, if you are going to have beam arrays instead of turrets for that canon look, then perhaps have FAW1 instead of the TS2. Because the Defiant never did an Enterprise-D style torpedo spread, but 'Shattered Mirror' shows the Defiant spam beam attacks when it was close-in to Mirror Worf's Negh'var. I'd recommend HE2 over ST2, not just for gameplay reasons but because ST2 sounds antithetical to the Defiant's approach to things, while HE2 lets it tank more, which is DEFINITELY a Defiant approach to things. By that same token, I'd have ASIF1 instead of RSP for the same reason as the poster above me stated: the Defiant rarely did any 'tech' solution to tanking damage, it always relied on its ablative armour. And ASIF1 is in line with that philosophy.

I too have ablative hull armour eng consoles and I slotted in the cloaking device here as well (whenever anyone on the show talked about the cloak it was usually O'Brien at his eng station). For tactical I just put in phaser relays, since the Defiant's cannons are supposed to just bulldog their way past any defences. EDIT for science I put in my Enhanced Plasma Manifold and a Field Generator, but I dunno what would fit in here. Probably not a biofunction monitor though, Bashir complained about the Defiant's lack of proper medical facilities in 'The Search part 1'.

Cool idea for a thread btw

EDIT2 Also, get the Belfast bridge off the DS9 bundle if you haven't already (or if you can afford it). I got it during the recent 15% bonus to zen and I'm quite happy with it. I only wish I can dress up all the ship's crew in the DS9/TNG movies era uniforms.

Sisko used attack patterns. "Rock her, port to starboard" lol.

That reminds me, put in deuterium surplus so that you have another way to do fast, quick manoeuvres when EM is on cooldown. Also get AP: Delta and Omega as those are the ones mem-alpha says were in episodes of DS9.

This is very true, I forgot all about using the attack patterns. Too bad there's no AP Theta or Sierra, as those were two others that were used in DS9.

stosfk: I'm searching the transcripts of episodes and if the one I read for "The Adversary" is correct, the Defiant does have (or at least, can fire) Photon Torpedoes. So for a Cannon ship, it needs at least 1 Photon Torpedo launcher.

But I remember Quantum Torpedoes more than Photons, so perhaps Fore could have 2 Quantum Torpedo launchers and aft could have 1 Photon Torpedo launcher?

IMO I don't know why Sisko was talking about photorps with O'Brien, it seems to me more of a writer's error than anything else. Having said that, it could just mean the launchers can fire both types of torpedo.

But yeah, you're right in that he did talk about photorps. So... I dunno We can't replicate everything that's canon unfortunately.

it would make sense that the launcher could fire both. it's the projectile you load that goes boom
