Between closed games with friends i've done few pugs last days and you are right there is a resurgence of fail commanders !
I will be forever traumtized by those 3 : an AP beam array only tactical armitage (wasn't rainbow at least ), a DHC only front + beam array only aft tactical armitage and a wannabe tactical <i have no space interdiction nor debuff skills> rainbow science odyssey.

I almost only play with fleet members and/or people from EliteSTF channel. PUG's is most of the time a waist of time, just do STF's with a group that knows what they are doing.
Bone1970 & Bone trader don't believe in a no-win senario, Kirk's protege. Fed Tac's. BNE Fed Sci.
Bag of Bones & Bone Ugly don't believe in a no-win senario, Kirk's protege. Rom/Fed Tac. Bone & Bone2 don't believe in a no-win senario, Kirk's protege. KDF Eng's.

nope not impossible at all if you have 4 players doing the 1.1 or 1.2k mentioned before and you have one player doing 6k then that one player is doing more. And yes I have seen it happen just that way. The problem with a parser is that in a situation like CSE if the parser is run by the person on the Kang, then the rest of the team will appear to have low dps. Vice versa if the parser is run by a member of the assault team then the kang player will appear to have very low dps.

It would be wonderful if this game had an accurate easy to use meter if not for the entire team but just for yourself. The people who care would be able to measure and work to improve their performance. Those who dont care it wouldnt matter anyway I tend to think that the tac in the star cruiser slinging skittles from the front is not really worried about dps at all.

A simple matter is if the person is in an escort and does not dps then yes, by all means, he fails at his role. If he's in a science ship do not expect 'healing' or 'dps'... most sci ships nowadays are exclusively crowd control since its basically the only sci abilities left that sort of work.

Cruisers... well, cruisers are always a joke unless they do have threat control and know how to hold aggro.

The bulk of failed pugs comes from clueless people in cruisers thinking they are escorts ...that cannot tank, fire forward guns (raindbow ship) only and die nonstop the moment a single sphere gives them a dirty look.
don't feel bad I have not one set yet space or ground and will have 4 medal of honors

Well, if you got the optional, then why does anyone CARE who did the most damage? Whatever you were doing, it worked. Results are what matters. I mean, the guy circling the Kang might not have gotten an opportunity to do much damage that run, but god help you if the next time he ain't there and you need him there.

I stopped puging and found two channels I frequent. One of them is closed to members and is kept up by competent people (We frequently get people from other channels that we trust however).

And ESTFs are all about DPS. If you aren't rolling an Escort then you are a liablity (Outside of good Carrier Builds).

An Escort can defend 2 sides in CSE wile the others do the RRMMLL strat.
An Escort can defend 2 sides in KASE
An Escort can solo right Cube in ISE and not hurt the other team's DPS.

I have literally puged STFs with teams who output ~1K DPS when they literally do nothing. One oddy had his aft to a Transformer in ISE this one time and was firing Rainbows. Other guys just fly around ignorant of the fact that some people want to finish the mission in less than 15 minutes (Less than 7 for me in all space elites).

I do STFs for Dillithium on my 3 accounts. I still need that damn Prototype PSG tho. I make sure to do an IGE every day now and I'm not pugging IGE. I can't even do IGE on one of my channels because people simply have issues with it.

But ground is more balanced than space as long as you have good gear outside of Pro Sci setups that can do 2-3x more DPS than my eng.

I am terrible at this game. I have 7 Lv 50 accounts.

I think Cryptic needs to rethink the skills of each ship, the game is becoming stale as it seems DPS is the only way to go these days.

Buff up the weapon potential of Cruisers so they can be of more help. Science abilities need to be cranked up again so science ships are more useful.

I sorta agree BUT:

DPS is not = Leadership skills or ability to plan a mission. A person in a T1 ship could be the ultimate expert on how to handle a mission, and where and how to deploy ships.
My name may say "PWE member", but I will never be.

All your DPS-meters can read the damage you dealt with weapons, but if a SCI traps 3 or 4 Spheres in a Gravity Well, so that one blows up the others, that is not tracked correctly. The damage that the core-breach of one Sphere deals to the others is dealt from "Pet Spam" to "Pet Spam". The only thing that is added to the SCIs stats is the damage that the Gravity Well dealt to those Spheres.
