Crytpic has said that they are not doing a Fleet version of the Excelsior due to the fact that its special ability is not attatched to a console. I have been think about this and wondering how a console could be added to the Excelsior to allow a fleet version to be added. I believe I have thought of a possible solution.

Photonic Particle Discharge

In Star Trek: Generations, the Enterprise B configured its declector to discharge a photonic particle beam in order to escape the Nexus. This could be attatched to a console for the Excelsior Retrofit. It would work similar to the Spinal Lance of the Galaxy X but, instead of doing phaser damage, it would do photonic / kinetic damage.

I think that is a great idea. Just make it a univeral console lol. And! have it share a cool-down with other deflector dish abilities for pure haha! It should also do a little bit of repel as well.

If you really want this, make sure the console is unique, and also make sure it's excelsior ONLY. Last thing we need are escorts running around giving people photonic/kinetic enemas...

I was indeed thinking for Excelsior only. Like the Separation Console and Cloak to name a few.

I think it's an interesting idea but a little too much like the MACO heavy graviton beam which performs essentially the same function.

Cryptic hasn't ruled it out either... they haven't found the motivation/logic for a Fleet Dreadnought or Fleet Excelsior just yet.

Maybe after the Ambassador Class...

Oh man, I would be ALL over this. I mean, the transwarp thing, I don't think would cause that much of an issue.

It's a built in ability, true, but it's totally outside of combat. I mean, having to pay more for a better Excelsior would be annoying, but no more annoying than say...Nebula owners who have to pay more for their Fleet versions.

The only other thing I'd want changed (besides the better hull and shields of course), would be if the ensign engineer was made into a tac, a sci, or a universal. Just ANYTHING, but an engineer. Even if they didn't, I know I'd buy this bad-boy if they put it out.

I wish they would make this for the sole reason that it feels like the fleet cruisers really need a tac-heavy representative. With sci vessels, you have the Fleet RSV, which has four tac consoles and nearly the nimbleness of an escort. As far as I can see, there is not a single fleet cruiser with four tac consoles, so the Excelsior would be the perfect choice outside of a Fleet Assault Cruiser. I know there's the Fleet Heavy Cruiser Retrofit, but it's kind of bleh.

Since i first saw that ship in ST:4 i found it repulsive ugly. The Excelsior is more then 130 years old and seeing it in STO having more Firepower than a Galaxy class is just wrong.
If they would add a Fleet version of that ship with 4 tac consoles... i would leave, seriously.
There isn't much left that keeps me playing anyway, this would be the final blow.

I come on man, it's a game, the fleet excelsior would be a godsend for almost anyone looking for a DPS heavy cruiser. I like the console but I think rather than a kinetic damage to a target I would prefer to repel myself from it or halt it's advance.

This said, I would appreciate any new console and I could afford to farm the 500 ZEN needed to get 1 module so I say bring on the fleet excelsior
