JJ. Trek is just as canon and awesome as all other Trek, Get over it.

Whatever that link goes to, I cannot see it.

So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

The actual reference art I used was from the Countdown comic prequel to nuTrek, featuring Captain Data as the CO of the Enterprise-E:

It was also suggested on Memory Beta (http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Co...One#Background) that Cryptic was going to use the Countdown Starfleet uniforms in STO, which presumably evolved into the Sierra 1 variant with extra trimmings:

Original concept: http://images.wikia.com/startrek/ima...comparison.jpg

Current Sierra 1: http://www.stowiki.org/Guide:_Unifor...rra_1_Uniforms

I prefered the cleaner lines of the original Countdown concepts, hence I've based my art on them.

Ah that makes sense.

While the Countdown Uniforms are not my favourite (Those would be the WoK and TNG Movie uniforms ), I do agree with you. The "Canon" uniforms in STO look too pleathery or plastic in appearance. They don't look "Trek" by any means.

I think those screenshots are out of date though. IIRC, there is now an option to change the texture type to a more matte finish as opposed to glossy leather.

That's pretty much what I've done with my toon and BOffs.

It's the extra hex-patterned trimming that throws me off, though.

It was designed FOR the game and used in early Alpha.

They TOOK IT OUT of the game for unknown reasons. But IDW got that design FROM Cryptic.

But Gozer did have a jacket commissioned in that style from a costumer as a memento of working on the game.

As in these?:

Gozer is mentioned on the costum manufacturer's site.

Looking at it, I don't really care for the shiny plasticy look - makes it more like a rain jacket than a Starfleet uniform. Bit of a shame, given their other Trek offerings look decent.

I know about that, but even then I find it still resembles plasticy yeckyness. It's just Matte plasticy yeckyness rather than shiny plasticy yeckyness.

Yes, I have found that looks nothing like something Starfleet would issue. It could be something an alien race of the week or a single character that does not adhere to the uniform like 7 or 9 or Neelix would wear. They really look like something out of the Mass Effect universe rather than Star Trek.
