i started playing only a few months back, i still feel new to it

i finally reached level 50 but i have a ways to go before getting a lvl 50 ship, i want to avoid buying CPoints.

when i advanced to captain i picked the long range science vessel (Voyager).
then when i made Rear admiral, lower half i picked the Assault Cruser (Enterprise-E)

i like how many weapons the assault cruiser has but i miss my science abilities
at level 50, would my captain tier long range science vessel ship be too low of a tier to be using at lvl 50.

if/when i get my lvl 50 ship i plan on getting the long range science vessel retrofit.

There's nothing in the rules saying you cant try it :p

If anything playing in a lower tiered ship adds a bit of challenge to the game, however i would suggest/request that you dont take your lower tiered ships into stfs/fleet missions/pvp, many people will think you are trolling/griefing.

Otherwise have fun!

- From my personal experiance when i leveled my first toon to 40 i got to about level 47 before i bothered changing my ship from exploration cruiser to assault crusier (Enterprise D to E or Galaxy to soverign) I managed pretty well

Though you might find using a lower tier science ship may prove a bit more of a challenge seeing how science ships can be a tad fragile, and being lower tiered you have less abilities etc, but heck, have fun :p

Another suggestion, if you have the time to gather up 120k dilithium you can even buy another RA ship (a science one) (assuming you miss the science aspect rather than the voyager aspect :p)

i will admit i picked the assault cruiser primaraly on looks fail on my part....

i like the ship... mostly, but i am not thrilled by the engineering skills, they seem... dull, the only engineering skill i like is eject warp plasma.

Funny thing was, when i picked my assault cruiser it was because i thought there were only 3 options! I genuintly didnt know the interface had a slider haha xD

I though I had to choose between an assault cruiser, a star cruiser an escort..

But i eventually got the dilithium for a Recon Science ship, then gave up and got the Cstore Defiant :p

yeah, eng skills are all about healing/buffing, not exactly fun :p, sci have wierd and wonderful that have mostly been nerfed to high heaven at some point, and tact is buffs and buffs and overpowered tactical teams :p

Bah. TT's, OP or not are useless when they decide their shift has ended and beam away in the middle of a firefight.

It's kind of cool when all my DOff's proc and I get like 8 of them, just to see them all fly away when I need them most. I blame Kirk's treatment of them, which encouraged them to unionize.

thats actually no fail, because it is still one of the cruisers that can tank and dish out moderate damage. and the looks of a ship are, imho one of the main factors to buy one, appart from the boff layout and consoles.

If you ask me, you should aim for the fleet nebula if you have the opportunity or the fleet reconnaissance

in my opinion those are the better sci ships in this game, and considering you only need 20 million EC or 500x4 z-points they are kind of cheap. atleast cheaper than an Oddy or an atrox.

i think you are talking about security escort (ground), and the rest here is talking about tactical team (space)
Go pro or go home

Yeah it's best to stick to the career ships if you're new to the game, once you get a hold of things and know how things work you really can do some swapping around with decent results.

Have you though of just grinding dilithium, use the Dilithium Exchange to convert it to Zen. Then go buy the Intrepid Retrofit? Better to do that than to buy one of the ships with just Dilithium.

i meant it was a fail because i got the ship purely for cosmetic reasons i didnt even look at the stats

this was basically the plan i had, i haven't yet got into the groove of grinding for Dilithium yet

Don't let people scare you away from "end game content" in a tier 5 ship. Yes, the assault cruiser is not as swank as an Odyssey, but we're talking incremental improvements here. Your equipment selection, skill build, and especially your own ability as a player is going to have way more of an impact on your "power" than which ship you have. I'll take the experienced cruiser captain flying an Enterprise-E for my team long before I take the "only C-store ships are worth my time so I spent 30$ to get one without really knowing how it works" guy in an Odyssey.
