Thoughts?
either will work. though the mobius is classed as an escort, so it'll get the most bang for your buck out of it. with a tac With the universals it can be an offensive powerhouse, or a rather hardy escort.

I agree, you can use either captain with the Mobius, it will depend I guess whether you want to be a little more offensive or defensive.
Though, to be honest, I have mutiple builds for my mobius using my main which is a tac officer, and one of the builds is very, very tanky with a little less teeth. With the flexibility of the boff layout you can pretty much build it the way you want. The build I enjoy most with it is a dps/crowd control build.

With that being said though, I think to get the most out of the mobius, my first choice would be a tac.

Agreed. Wholeheartedly. It's way too slow. Its speed is probably on par with that white, crystaline bolt the mama Borg Queen fires (in her cigar-shaped vessel, in sector space mission), but doesn't do nearly as much DPS; in fact, in doesn't even match the DPS of a regular quantum -- not even close. So, it's really severely underpowered.

As a result, I had to put it on aft, where it hardly ever sees any action, of course (what with turrets normally being there for forward weps 'momentum'). Can't really take it off, either, as I need it for set-bonus.

As it stands, Oh, the irony, the TDD really only works to slow yourself down. :P

You aren't meant to hit things with the TDD. You're meant to pop THY1 and drop it for an AoE slow effect.

Yeah, except you really can't just "drop it in" (like you can deploy a device turret): it needs a specific target, and it needs to *reach* its target and then explode, to do anything at all.

So, since escorts rely almost entirely on forward weps momentum, your TDD either doesn't fire at all (as it's in aft), or you fire it from fore, at which point it has reached your target only half-way when your DHCs have already killed it off.

After doing some basic maths I determined that the 2 piece set + a Mk XII chroniton flux regulator would give the torp a 55.5% damage boost, and that this boost would give a significant advantage over my current quantum torp.

After getting the set, I learn that it still doesn't do as much damage as my quantum.

remember, both increase the BASE damage, they dont add up, then increase.

Consider it an escort and light sci torpedo, designed for maneuverable ships to fire1-3 km from a target's face... or to be fired BEFORE shields are down. (They'll be down before it gets there.)

Better with HY1 but basically optimized for ships that fight at melee range and/or before shields are down.

I am running with the disruption Torpedo (device) and the bonus console only.

My initial experience has been both AMAZING and miserable. The Temporal Disruption Device is hit an miss against PvE ship, but against fixed targets - Gates - it kicks ass. For my SCI toon, this is a huge bonus in STF's when damage is needed. I have it as a rear facing torpedo, using both Spread II and HY I as options. Best damage so far was 35,000 kinetic.

I use quantums forward - so no bonus in that area. I have not purchased the temporal dual beams, preferring to use dual polarons.
