3 DHCs (or 4) + 3 Turrets + Rapid Fire 3 + Gravity Well 2 (or other Science Lt. Commander ability)...

Most escorts already use 3 DHCs already. Not having a quantum torpedo won't decrease DPS by *THAT* much, and you can still have one anyway if you want. I can only see adding the more useful science abilities into the mix as a a major source of pain in both PVE and PVP.

It's not...just different.

Think Fleet Patrol escort with universal lt. comm and lt. slots.

Instead of the four eng console slots of the fleet patrol, the temporal destroyer gets four science consoles.

It has less hull, more shields (slightly better shield modifier).

Not OP'd, just a difference that will cost you a significant amount of resources to run a destroyer/escort with on the fly versatility.

At first opening...I was slightly disappointed with the BOFF layout until I was able to piece together the BOFF setup I posted in the thread on the destroyer somewhere else.

Oh...the console that comes with it isn't that great. I'd rather run the new lobi tachykinetic console in it's place.

That console is AWESOME!

Not having a quantum torpedo will not decrease your DPS at all. If anything, it will increase it.

The reason you get a torpedo is for burst damage. A single volley with a torpedo may be higher than a single volley with just energy weapons, but quickly gets outpaced while that torpedo is on cooldown. Also, if you hit a shield, your torpedo DPS is going to be worse.

chroniton torpedo + lobi dbb + tachkinetic console make that chroniton torp act like a quantum with extra procs!

It's not... just different.

While I love it, I don't like the Lieutenant Tactical station. Using Universal Lieutenant Commander + Commander Tactical, the 3rd tact officer station, strange as it may sound, gets a bit in the way, as the only real useful thing to fit on the Ensign pos is TT1 (and you'd already have 2x of those on the others). So, I wound up putting a 'Beam: target shield I' in there; but that's kinda pointless, as using it would interfere with my BO attacks. All-in-all, I'd rather seen a Lieutenant Sci station in its stead.

The Universal BOFFs are pretty much always going to be LC Sci, L Eng -> It's a Prometheus-F with the 5th Tac Console replaced with a Sci Console, ~3% less Hull and 5% more Shields; so it'll have the same tricks as the aforementionned Prometheus-F (or even -R) and a bit more durability but less damage.

Oh, and 1 less Turn Rate. Considering the fact that it:
- Has a useful Ensign.
- Allows (and pretty much mandates) a LC Sci.
- Has 4 Sci Console slots.

... it does seem somewhat stronger than some of our existing Escorts (like the Hermes-F), but it's about on par with the stronger ones (Prometheus-F, Akira-F) or even slightly behind.

It's not, it's just a little versatile.

This destroyer will have the thickest shields of any in game escort but the loss of a lt.cmdr tac slot and lack of pets put's it at a DPS disadvantage to all other teir 5 escorts. Setting the LT.Cmdr slot to Tac would only work in a very weird build or PVE, the rest of us would want heals.

The ship seems set up for one of three playstyles, Shield tank escort, Sci control escort(with only one or two control powers) or Sci heals escort. It'll excel at any of these and be fun.

I'm wondering if the KDF version will be the escort that KDF pilots have been wanting for a while now or never even be used because of the lack of a cloak.

I think you mean GW1 as both GW2 and GW3 are CMDR powers...

Also you're really late to this, the MVAM could already do this...

Keep in mind the Ltc can be ENG and the Lt Sci, which could lead to one of the tankiest Escort builds available.

Here's one idea:

CMD Tac: TT 1 > CRF 1 > APO 1 > CRF 3
Lt Tac: TT 1 > APD 1

Ltc Eng: EPTS 1 > RSP 1 > Aux to SIF 2
Ens Eng: EPTS 1

Lt Sci: HE 1 > TSS 2

^This is what I did with my KDF Krenn for STFs

I have a Tact, Eng, and Sci Boff ready to fill either LtC or Lt depending on the mission.
I'll stop kicking that horse when the bugs fixed. Until then as a paying consumer, I will voice my opinion.
