Anyway, this is not about how to get a single-player fleet, but what you can do with it as a solo player, which, I think, is not bad at all.
Yes, you can have a lot of fun with a solo fleet, i certainly do. I don't like raids so I don't participate in STFs and i've never enjoyed PvP so there's not a lot of end game left for a player like me. Building a Star Base and the Foundry are what keep me playing STO and fill my free time. With patience, i'll one day have a full tier 5 starbase, even if it takes years, and you can too.

Enjoy the game, that's why they make them.

can't wait to start an embassy

I find people's objections to solo fleets ridiculous, the alternative would be a whole bunch of solo players who still wouldn't have anything to do with you or your fleet.

p.s. I agree with other posters, that's its not the best way to obtain a fleet. There are people out there (including me) who would help you start a solo fleet with the intention of leaving it to you afterwards.
Are you schzio? At the begining of the 2nd line you used the term "We" have a T1 base - does that "we" mean you? or do you think your alts are different people/players?

just checking

"solo fleet" doesn't make any sense even linguistically; it's like saying "one ships".

It's a multiplayer game. There are going to be things in it you can't do, or can't do well, without grouping. If you want to only experience the one-player things, that's fine; but don't complain that the MMORPG you're playing has "M"s in the description.

"Solo Fleet" may not appeal to Fleet leaders looking for more "earners", but independant players have been included in Cryptics financial plans. Committed individuals who are willing to push their hobby forward are definitely allowed to add their cash & efforts to the game, recognizing that there is no real fair structure in the Fleet Leadership setup. ( hopefully the "political structure" of Fleets changes in the future to something a little more modern than feudal times. ) . There are obviously ways for a player to have the best of both worlds, if a player wishes.

I have no complaints myself, and frankly the game wouldn't be much fun without the other players around. You guys say some of the funniest things in chat and i'm always happy to answer questions other players ask when I know the answer. Just because I prefer to solo doesn't mean I don't want you guys around, i'm just limiting my involvement with you.

You'll just have to except that there are reasons for doing so.

p.s. alt fleet then if you don't like solo fleet

Just want to say I have no issue with what the op did. While I wouldn't be interested in being in a one man fleet, I think it's perfectly acceptable to "hijack" a fleet that has fallen into neglect because the leaders went inactive. If they drop the ball and someone else unseats them cause they've not been about then that is their own fault. I was in the op's position about 8 months ago. My fleet was falling apart. I was in the 3rd highest rank when the leaders stopped playing. to be clear there were about nine people in the leader rank at the time (more then half the fleet) and none of them were logging on. the embassy was unstarted and the most of the starbase project slots were inactive. I was given the chance to claim leadership and I did. I decided that that the other leaders were no longer deserving of the rank and demoted them. (I however kept them in the fleet.) I re-branded the fleet and went on a recruiting drive and set up a requirement for promotion based on the amount donated to projects. (standard enough) As several of the old leaders had never donated they were demoted to bottom rank.

Our fleet is now more then a hundred strong and slowly but surely we are making progress on our holdings that we never did with the old leadership.

I know many of you would say that I was should be banned for what I did, but I honestly believe I've done nothing wrong and that my actions were in the best interest of the fleet.
(Several of the original leaders did return to the game shortly after LoR went active and demanded I re-instate them. I did not and they started to cause trouble so I was eventually forced to kick them.)

I had the opportunity to squat-lead an idle fleet a while ago. Folks were gone for months. I completed almost all of Tier 1 by myself, a bit of Tier 2, even got a T1 fleet ship that is still my favorite. The best parts of being fleet owner were being able to make my own emblem and "improving" the fleet name. And knowing there was zero fear of being kicked out.

Months later two of the prodigal fleet ex-leaders returned and sent a whiny mail. I'd reached a dead-end growth-wise with such a tiny fleet so I happily left it to them (did not rob the bank - dammit Jim, I'm a hospital ship captain not a salvager) and coincidentally got invited to a sensible, international T5 fleet half an hour later.

I came away knowing how fleets run (mechanically) and with my own badge design on my ship. It made it easy to digest the 400,000 fleet credit "promotion fee" at my new fleet, since T5 is seriously a lot of work. I just wish I could continue to play with my insignia. It is a waste of cool tools to restrict that to the 1 in 100 fleet leaders. Perhaps a second emblem for the other shoulder could be done, rationalized as a fleet subdivision...

Anyway, a one-active-member fleet made perfect sense for me, more options to play with and more secure than a 5 active-member fleet.

I say this everyday to my fleet,
"You need play in group, you are playing a mmo... Not a single player online"
