I am a tactical officer and i dont know a lot about ground skills and so on. I would like to know how to survive the Borg in the boss room. I usually position myself at the ramp in front of the door so i can just duck there to avoid being shot. However, after a while, the Borg drones on the left and right start to fire. When one of them fires, i can heal myself but when there are 2, i have a serious problem and usually get killed. I run the complete MKXI MACO ground set and i would like to get the MKXII but this will be hard if i dont know how to survive.

ps: i tried to cloak myself but this didnt help. the drones continued attacking me.

Ill try give you what i do when i play Elites on a tact captain

No obviously being a tact means your high dps, but squishy due to lack of healing abilities.

The maco set is great, use the shield capacitance carefully.

The kits you choose can make a huge impact on your gameplay too, the only 3 kits i find viable for combat are;

-Fire team, lots of buffs, good damage
-Squad leader, Overwatch and rally cry GREAT for exposing enemies for exploit attacks
-Operative, Not as handy vs elite borg (they perceive too well, this is why they still attack you when 'cloaked') but great spike damage.

What kit for the boss room?

-Squad leader is great for IGE on the way to the boss, but in the boss room... not so, rally cry will actually aggro nearby borg, big no-no
-Operative again, limited use because of borg's natural high perception,
-Fire team i usually use, high dps spikes.

Some tips about the boss room that come in handy:
- No security escort AT ALL!, the use 'draw fire' (aggros borg) and randomly attack borg that havent been aggroed, also act as chain-lightning-bait for becky
-Draw Fire, (a useless ability for a tactical in all fairness)
- Using the 'LRC' (stand at doorway kill borg to left, right then center then 3 people jump) tactic you will know the borg on the left/right will be re spawning about the same time becky is free, so stay away from that half of the room (being at the entrance means you suffer flanking damage from the left/right) I would suggest move to the 3rd/4th node and utilize your maco sniper
-AOE weapons can inadvertently aggro borg that have not noticed the team, e.g. splitbeam rifles/ full auto rifles, pulsewaves etc, if you are using one of these as a secondary weapon be VERY careful when using the secondary attacks

Feel free to use pulsewaves when freeing up the nodes, since their knockback is a good way to push drones into the plasma (which we all agree is muuuuch easier than actually killing them). And ONLY use it on Manus when she is up close (less than 8m).

A tactic I have found is good is to sit on those pipes that jut out from the sides of the plats. They actually reduce your profile enough that drones on the middle and some of the sides have trouble targetting you, so they just sit and stare, and usually don't shoot.

Also, if Manus starts to target you, never stop shooting. She switches targets regularly, so if you think that lowering your dps will make you less targetted, it doesn't, just means you're wasting damage and not really helping your team. Lastly, do NOT stay close to ANY of your teammates. Manus has that evil arc attack, and it really hurts.

If you are looking for a loadout recommendation, I'd recommend Fire Team, a Sniper/MACO Rifle, a Pulsewave and any decent armour/shields with Plasma resist. Your MACO gear should be more than sufficient in that respect.

But to be honest, the boss room in IGE is a team affair. Survival boils down more to how your team does the room rather than what you have equipped. The most common way to do the room is LRM, although centre first can be done too, and I personally prefer it as a strategy.

LRM works like this:

The team snipes & kills the drones at the front Left and front Right of the platform, before moving into the Middle platform and clearing it. The team then goes to the front right platform, enters the sequence there, uploads the virus and then goes onto the front left without any intereference from drones (because they've already been picked off). When you've got the front two platforms done, you can go to the back. Don't attack the drones at the back until you're on the platform with them, and then use a Pulsewave or HD rifle to knock them into the plasma. Then enter the sequence at the back platforms upload the virus. The advantage of this method is that the first Tac Drones to respawn will be on the front platforms, out of range of where the team will be by that stage.

Centre first works like this:

The team eliminates the drones in the centre platform, then goes to the platform nearest the entrance on the right side, elimintates the drones and enter the sequence, and then proceeds around the room clockwise, defeating the drones and entering the sequence at each corner. You don't engage any drones until you're on the same platform as them, which, so you can blast at least two of every three off with a pulsewave if you position yourself properly. The advantage of this method is that it's a bit quicker overall and you have a better chance of completely avoiding any Tac Drone respawn.

Most teams use LRM, but I always ask before going into the room to be sure. As a general rule, you shouldn't be engaging any platform of Tac Drones by yourself.

When you say you stay at the ramp, do you mean you stay there for the duration of the room, or just after the boss spawns?

You shouldn't be staying at the ramp for the whole room, because once you clear the front left and front right platforms, you won't do anything for your team, because you need to help them do the consoles and clear the back. Some teams leave 2 players on the middle, but I'm not a fan of that approach and think the team should stay together as a five, that means you should be moving clockwise around the room until the boss spawns, after which you'll want to spread out, because the boss has an electrical attack than can chain from one player to another. So get away from and/or break line of sight with each other.

If you're only moving back to the front after the boss is spawned, then it's probably not the best place to be because the front right and front left platform Tac drones will be the first to respawn if your team is LRMing. If you're looking for a place to keep your head down and break line of sight with the boss or with a team mate who's been hit when the boss is active, the consoles you enter the sequence into can be used, although you have to crouch behind them. You can also use the pillars on the platform Rebecca is floating in at the start.

Elan's point about not using pets (security escorts, quantum copies) or ranged AoE to reduce the possiblity to aggroing the whole room at once is good advice too. Don't use them after the boss spawns either because she'll be able to target them and "chain" her electrical attack from them to other players.

My experience is that the borg on the platforms don't aggro unless attacked. I have often tanked Becky crouched on the ramp. What is likely happening to you is either you or one of your team has inadvertently shot at the platform borg.

The final room is pretty easy, but timing is the key, bad teams create worse situations for themselves.

Plan it before entering. As mentioned, LRM method.
Enter, crouch on the ramp. Take out the left platform drones, the right platforms drones, then the centre platform. Disable the right shield tower. Have the 2 people not on console duty one step ahead of the console team and clear the next set of two borg. Disable the left, then the far left tower, and finally the right. No borg should have respawned yet.

Split up, but don't have the whole room agroed.

The key is to kill fast, you are going to have borg respawning very soon and making a mess. If they respawn one person has to deal with them, if that person has Boss agro they are dead.

The advice about a tac captain using the Maco set is bad advice. Use the omega set, even a tac captain can tank Becky as long as no drones agro them. Crouch plus set stats and bonus gives you near 100 dodge, which isn't as good as it sounds but Becky isn't terribly offensive nor accurate. She doesn't fire as much as normal drones, and a miss allows for your shields to regen, on bad streaks use the hypo.

As mentioned above, using the left, right, center (middle) method of clearing when you enter is the most effective. It will dictate what spawns where.

I usually play KDF, but when I am using a tactical captain, I like to use a high density beam rifle as a primary weapon (with the honor guard weapon as offhand). The beam rifle is a long range weapon with a 100% chance at +25 repel. This will allow you to launch any borg on the corner platforms into the plasma with ease. Pulsewaves have a 66% chance for knockback, which make them inferior to the beam rifle for the purpose of shooting the borg into the plasma

I have found that when using the LRC/LRM method, that after the last generator is disabled, that jumping to the front right platform is a fairly easy way to control what spawns on you. Since the front right should be respawning about the time the generator in the center is blown. When they do, you have a window of opportunity to shoot them off the platform using the beam rifle, into the plasma. With this platform cleared, you can just use this platform to shoot "becky" from. Just remember to keep your distance from the center platform right side spawn.

Fire team kit is pretty good. I usually use the squad leader kit though, since I usually don't draw aggro from the tactical drones with the team heal and having damage resistance for when I do get shot at is always a good thing.


Though bear in mind...your mileage may vary, not every method may work for you.

Lots of good advice here, but the way I read it, your problem starts when you start fighting Rebecca?

First condition when fighting rebecca, is that noone on your team runs around aggroing borgs randomly. If they do, you don't have a chance.

I usually like to crouch on a pipe near one of the platforms. I carry a HD rifle, and the MACO Sniper rifle. If a drone near me on my platform aggros, i raise up, shoot it with the HD, and crouch again. Then it will most likely have lost line of fire. The same if the centre drones aggro on me. Push them out of range with HD rifle.

That said, if rebecca gets stuck on you, you will die without heals. Just put in as much damage as you can before you die, and hope your teammates do the same. If you're hitting her hard enough, she will die before you.

I prefer the Fire Team kit, because of the increased damage, and because of Supressing Fire, that reduces you enemys damage output a lot!
