I am just about to level up to RA in the game, and I was wondering what ship I should get. I am a sci captain, by the way. This ship will probobly be the last one I get in the game, so I need some feedback. which ship is the best?

This is hard to answer since there are so many playstyles for a sci.

So.. a few questions.. will you be buying a ship using zen, or stopping at the last free ship?

How do you normally play a sci? Healer, tank... offensive... debuff etc...

As for my personal choices I really do enjoy the Recon Science ship and the Intrepid retrofit.

Oh btw... with the mirror Universe science ships... you can select the Recon Science Vessel then buy a Mirror Deep Space Vessel on the exchange for around 200k. This way you have 2 ships with the stats of the RSV or DSV. (or other way around if you like the DSV's looks better)

Actually the mirror sci ships are slightly re-mixed, unlike the mirror cruisers earlier(which had only the crew stat flipped beyond the skin). The Mirror RSV has the HP and turnrate of the prime universe DSSV, but the console and bridge layout of the RSV (Vice versa for the Mirror DSSV). I kinda like the Mirror RSV better than my prime DSSV, more Tac focused, but not as fragile as the prime RSV is.

Oh, I stand corrected. Thats slightly confusing.. Either way, with the mirror ships there is a lot more variety and cheap options.

If you're going for offense/debuff, SciScort, it has the same bridge officer layout of the defiant retrofit minus the extra ensign tac boff station. Its an extra sci boff slot you could use Sci team, TSS, polarize hull, ot tractor beam. Make yourself more tanky or strategically more confuse&hold.

If you ever do buy a ship from the C-Store ypu can take the MVAE console and put it on the Advanced escort, separate and out turn almost ever other escort in the game practically

Wells class, but this one depends on buying large numbers of lock-box keys and a huge amount of luck.

I Highly reccomend the Nebula Class or the Advanced Research Vessel Retrofit (tier 5 purchasable with Zen)

the ship can do most any science builds well and imho is the best Science ship out there second to the Temporal Science Vessel...

Since i refuse to support pwe's lockbox version of consumer **** and buy keys, I won't be getting a wells. Sure i could pick one up on the exchange but I'm also too much of a tight wad and would rather spend the ec's on other things lol. I did however part with the hundred and some thousand for the mirror rsv (or whichever it is that looks like the prime dssv, they confuse me). I have the t5 Nebula and have honestly tried to enjoy it, but i keep falling back to my prime rsv. Sure it doesn't hit the hardest, but it's got a decent turn rate to get those pesky grav wells out there, and arm the thing up with tets and a q-torp and it becomes a great little tool to assist the escorts. I dont heal, i control and i tear away shields so the big boys can bash some hull. I love the extra tiny boost that the ensign tac boff allows (tac team 1/atk pat beta 1 on lt tac and tac team 1 on ens tac). My survivability is fine in norm stfs and a bit more exciting in elites, but I'm also not space dust every 10 seconds either. Im also sure that my sci build woudl be found odd to some but has worked great for me personally. Yes at some point i will probably pick up the t5 Intrepid but until then my sci ship of choice is the rsv...worst case scenario hop on tribble and test out a few different ships and get a feel for what you like most.

dang that was long...sorry about that. lol
