# 71 Stop the incessant whining...

You know I have been on the game as a LTS for 847 days and am very happy to see them doing this and not because I can't wait the remainder for the ship. I think this is a wonderful way for them to entice more lifetimers-- i.e. paying members who actually are helping support the game rather than F2P.

Yes while it is a little bittersweet for those like me who have been subscribed it bodes well for all of us to have more subscribers and less F2P. It also is a win for cryptic and win for the subscriber base to have more people with a vested interest in this games success.

I have a lot of LTS friends who have left (including myself) and come back. Just because I was subscribed doesn't mean I or anyone else has been playing all this time. It just means how long it's been since I purchased my sub. I have logged over 2000 hours playing which is probably more than some of those 1000 day vets. If you are an LTS you are default a veteran subscriber and you will own the game for the life of the game so really who cares when you get the perks. If you see more vet ships out there maybe some of those non-subs will decide to say I want that and pony up for a sub instead of $200 on stupid lock boxes which I know we all abhor.

I thought they should have done this a long time ago to encourage more subscribers and now available with a discount makes it an awesome buy. No regrets here....

Or must they have kept the previous system, where LTS'er or regular Gold you had to stay in-game X number of days to get Y rewards?

EDIT: Basically, what does/did Cryptic need to do to make X-day subbers feel special after today's announcement?
Might sound silly but for me, a title for the OLD LTSers, that get 1k days in the next lets say 3 month's would be a way of saying thank u for supporting us in our darkest hours. Trough beta, launch and F2P launch...

Gold members still have to stay in 1000 days before they can have the ship, it only is for LTS this "perk"

Please don't offer this kind of deal again. Every time I see something that doesn't distinct me from a f2p player or what a f2p player can buy as even a LIFER I get sick just reading it. Some have been lifers since DAY 1 IT WAS BEING SOLD. I bought my lifer sub on the last day of early start. I was in OB for a while and i still remember having a blast shooting up dev borg spheres and stuff outside ESD and on the ground outside quinns turbolift. I have great respect for those who subbed from day one but I'm about 2.5 weeks after them so I myself are kinda one of the early subbers.

The real vets really need some unique reward, or title. We've been here for 3 years and have gone through cryptics hardships even a year of no real new content. Why should a new player come in, buy a 200$ sub and then get to wear a veteran title? Me and probably many of the LTS have also bought many Cpoints/Atari tokens/Zen for the C-store so no a F2P does not necessarily always spend more on this game.

Its a good idea but really? ANYONE even a new LTS subber can look like an old STO vet of the good ol' days of killing random stuff in nebulas as KDF or flying around bright ribbons in sector space.

At least let them wait to get their titles... We actually waited to earn these rewards

While I still have some questions about the ship. Like is there a new bridge and such. Also how lotus will play with 4 Canons and 3 aft torrents. Also is the slipstream longer like it was with the oddy. Beyond all of that its a neat neat ship.

Now the bad.. I?m done. With playing?? Heck no! But they got my last sub money in September. I am/was a 6 month player from day one. I always said I was going to bail from paying if the vet was going to end. To me the vet rewards ending meant that payer support was ending. Why stay pay???? I have bought slots for BO's 18 BO's by the way. I bought toon slots even thou I only play one. I also bought bank slots. I don?t create on the foundry. I do enjoy playing it!. But they got my last sub. I assume I will get to keep my Vet title but wondering if I also get the forum header.

I always said it was a slap in the face to the players when they ended vet rewards. Now I hear today that anyone from today on that buys life will get the ship the day they buy life. So is it a cstore ship? Well no you cant buy it on cstore but yes you can buy it. If killing vet rewards was a slap this is a punch to all beta/launch lifers. Kind of even a punch to me because all people need to do is discover the game buy life and get the ship before me. Yea I will get it in like 2 weeks but still I hope you can see how its a knock to the people like me who have paid from day one but not bought life.

Cryptic it's a great way to bring more lifers in 4SURE! Coming from a business man you have really threw your "current" customers to the curb. If not lifers because heck you got there money! You tossed me to the curb. Well Ill get back up and hop back on the train to the stars. I love it! But ill buy my keys and everything else I can on the exchange and leave my sub money at home.

I was looking forward to the ship. I was keen to have a cool unique in game ship even it was not as OP a lockbox ship. So, sue me, I am vain (& a gamer) and wanted something because I was here at the start and have stuck with the game all this time. But now it is really just another Zen-store ship. So, I don?t really care anymore. - I know, I am a selfish, horrible person.

However, I also see it that PW/Cryptic does not think the game will last another 1000 days to make vet rewards worth it without removing the time limit.

I know there are a lot of people who cried ?DOOM? since day one and I have tried to never do that. But for the first time since STO came out I am beginning to feel there is a limited life left in this game.

So, I'm a lifetime subscriber, have been for quite some time

I have to say, I don't mind this at all. Making people who have paid for a lifetime subscription ,a golden key to the inevitable rewards if you will, wait is frankly petty.

Instead of worrying about having had to wait, be happy that others get to share in your fun.

Isnt that kinda what StarTrek is supposed to be all about anyway?

Yep - already read those - since you're interested, lets look at those:

Nobody really benefits from keeping it from people who've already paid for 1000 days, save the vanity of a few individuals.
Except now, as an LTS subscriber, you have nothing more to look forward to from your LTS except 500 Zen a month. Over the last 3 years, every hundred days I've gotten something cool - sometimes it was cooler than other times, but it was new, it was neat and it was free - all I had to do was wait for it. Now, if you pony up your $300 you get a big bundle of goodies and then - nothing. All you have is what you had before plus some new toys - nothing to look forward to except your Zen. Have fun with that.

Nobody who's really committed to the game would put their ego before bringing in more revenue to fund more development.
In case you hadn't noticed - there is no new development - just stuff to sell and horrible grinds to keep you playing - Defera, Nukara, The Vault, the STFs ,Fleet Starbases but no new Featured Episodes - no new story-driven content. New lockboxes - sure. The occasional new ship in the C-Store - yep. But other than that, what?

All this money's going somewhere, but it ain't funding further development. In the past, Cryptic actually achieved more with less.

And besides, this isn't about ego - buying into the game back then was a leap of faith - seeing the bare bones of what STO was and trusting in Cryptic a) not to fold within a few months of releasing the game and b) to build on what they had to make STO the MMO we all wanted it to be.

Well, they didn't fold, but both the game and the company are never going be what any of us were hoping for 3 years ago. But I guess I'm just wasting my time venting here - or perhaps I'm just writing because I'm putting my 'ego' first.

Cryptic, So let me get this straight. I'm 29 days from 'Earning' my 1,000 days. And some player (who has only been playing for 3 weeks) can just purchase a lifetime membership and get the same thing I've been earning for a 1,000 days?? And this is how you reward your faithful players who have spent thousands of hours & spent hundreds (maybe thousands) of dollars by giving the newcomer the same reward because they purchased your LTS??

And if you're really hurting for money--Here's a good marketing strategy: LOWER your prices and people will buy.

Agreed whole heartedly. We had faith in the game and paid for a "limited" offer of the lifetime sub pre-launch. We've felt cheated ever since. And if this doesn't scream "the game is ending soon" I don't know what is. There's no other reason to fast track everyone to the 1,000 Day Veteran points other than admitting that they will never reach it on their own even with a Lifetime Sub.

it's a huge insult to any one that is a lifer of any kind or any gold members out there. you clearly have no respect for the players that are lifers or gold members.
so we only got these ships so they could be used as a lifer sales gimmick???

if i had monthly sub i would cancel. however i'm a life and i paid as soon as i could and it was a gamble.
saturday should be when i hit 1k, it now don't feel like it should be special. it feels worthless......
I feel ya 100 percent! This ship was not a reward it was a sales gimmick to bring in new people. From day one I have payed a 6 month sub and was looking forward to my 1000. A badge of honor! Yea people I have been here from day one. A 1000 day vet club. Now its a cstore/account store toss up to anyone. You may be sitting next to that ship at dock wednesday and you are a 1000 day and the person next to you is a one day. I wrote my sub goodby letter on the forum
