Although I have no sources and make no claims as to the terms of any license between CBS and Cryptic/PWE, one must assume that all changes to the game of a substantial nature such as the introduction of a new ship class, must be first approved by the IP holder, in this case CBS.

The risks associated with breaking an intellectual property license are high. A quick search of the internet will reveal not only that a company loses the rights to use the IP, in this case anything to do with Star Trek, but could also face damages. Many of these damage claims are settled out of court or are not disclosed, however those that are made public are staggering in their costs. E.g. in the case of Bratz Dolls vs Barbie, the courts sided with Mattel and ordered MGA to pay $100 million in damages.

I find it hard to believe therefore that Cryptic/PWE would risk their entire business and PWI would sanction such a case as guarantor for subsequent damages simply to introduce a new ship model.

PWE is based in China. Good luck suing a Chinese firm over intellectual property violations.

You're trying to sound authoritative through overwrought language (and zomg a citation!) but nothing you said is more than an effort to make excuses on behalf of PWE and contradict the facts - that they killed the Veteran program while at the same time disavowing any obligation to keep the game running...and changed the billing policy for lifetime to be "you give us your money, up front, and we won't refund it no matter what."

Obvious conclusion is obvious. PWE killed vet programs and disavowed any obligation to run the game as a going concern because they know they can't.

The Lifetime "fire sale" is just running the grapes through the press one last time.

What you have written is indeed a terrible and scary scenario. It's also a complete Fabrication. Perhaps substantiated by some "facts", but you are making up a conspiracy story about the terrible PWE overlords.
What exactly does "conspiracy" mean in this context? You're throwing around the word "conspiracy", but all it really seems to mean in the context you use it is "Stop here. Think no further."

Think no further...why? Well, business is a conspiracy to make money, if they can make more money through putting misinformation on their forums why wouldn't they?

"Terrible PWE overlords". Isn't it interesting how everyone who champions PWE has the exact same writing style - sarcastic and bombastic, yet devoid of cogent reasoning?

So do you think PWE isn't "terrible"? Would you say PWE is trustworthy? That they have integrity? That they would never do a thing like exploit their playerbase through bait-and-switch? Is that your claim? Or what is your sarcasm meaning to say?

Basically it looks to me like your post boils down to, "Stop thinking and keep giving PWE your money."

PS: Look at the timestamps. Posters arguing for PWE always seem to post only a few minutes apart, every few hours, while posters who are skeptical tend to post at random times.

It doesn't matter where they are based, only where they operate. Besides, Cryptic is a US legal entity that is owned by a Chinese company. A lawsuit can still be brought against the US LE and not the parent if PWE won a petition to have China block the claim (which it's not likely to do as a global trading partner for such a small dispute). Also, China has supported prosecution of IP violations in recent years.

And last I checked, this isn't the first LTS "fire sale" they've conducted. The game is still here regardless.

and instead of providing proof for any of the supposed PWE/Cryptic rocky relationship or license-not-being-renewed claim, we get nothing but accusations of sock puppetry?

Doesn't make the initial claims any more believable and detracts from any legitimate point that may have been valid.
