In an old episode of stoked in a math segment jeremy said basicly putting ponts in your shield power settings only benifitted regen shield and if you where running covariant shields it was a waist putting points in the power settings because it did not benitfit covariant shield , i was woundering if this is still true or not.

It also benefits in shield "hardening". ie your shields will take less damage at 100 power
This is not as good as it used to be...

Covariant shields are for anyone who likes to use them. Escorts need the buffer just as much as science ships do.

Disagree, covarient are for cruisers. Science ships benefit with the standard shield better IMO, better regeneration. And Escorts, they need less bleedthrough cause their hulls are weaker.

Personally, nothing beats the 3 Piece Borg Combo where you get Shield and Hull Regeneration. Combine that with the MACO shield, which has plasma resist, and you are golden on a SCI ship.

That must have been before they introduced a shield resistance bonus that depends on your shield power setting.

Very unfortunately, the game does not display the shield resistance anywhere.
