# 1 The Shuttle Adventure Zone
10-15-2012, 04:34 AM
So to me, I have an idea that just feels like the natural progression from the current adventure zones, and the one that will be coming up in Season 7. A next logical step, and something truly unique and exciting.

What I would like to see is a planetary atmosphere shuttle-based adventure zone. Just as an example, it could take place over a large island or other landmass on an Class M planet.I don't want to go into detail cause I want the devs to use whichever ideas come to them. Whatever I propose wouldn't be what they come up with anyways. Overall, it should be pretty (and IMO habitable).

This landmass would be dotted with a couple of large, futuristic cities or compounds, with lots of room to fly between sky-high buildings when dogfighting enemies. It would also have a bunch of other facilities littered around, which would have landing pads. If you use the landing pad, you see your shuttle land and you go into a ground area, where other mission options or contacts might be located.

I don't want to go into too much detail, but properly realized a planetary zone where shuttles are the primary means of travel, exploration, and combat, just seems extremely interesting to me.

What's everyone else think?

Maybe a decent idea but given how godawful and grindy the Vault Shuttle Event is to play, I have low expectations of this team to get this done in a fun way.

By the time Cryptic is done with it, it'll be a Dilithium Labor Camp where you tractor 1 dilithium per hour with your shuttle.

Oh wait!

I'm sorry to have to break this to you OP, but Cryptic wants your money. Not just a little bit, but a lot of it. That being the case, they are going to try to charge you ridiculous prices for anything they think you might buy. Welcome to a perfect world.

Adventure Zone. Not time-gated event. Borg Invasion of Defera. Nukara Prime. New Romulus.

Sounds like an interesting idea to me. If done properly would be quite fun. Also would allow the game to shine more again in the flight based combat it excels at while throwing in more varied environments that could potentially be very pleasing to the optical nerve receptors.

I have not played it recently but I think CO is doing something with vehicles where you go off and attack some larger enemy ship in the air?

perhaps that can be adapted so we are flying shuttles around in low atmosphere.

There are a lot of possibilities. The "space engine" is already 2.5 d and would adapt extremely well from space to air. You could have missions to attack large airborne targets, ground facilities, run dogfights between skyscrapers, explore vast underground cave systems that open up into underground ruins, go underwater (assuming they ever make the water in this game not look like garbage), etc. I mean, there are SO many things you could do with this.

A brilliant idea!

This is how to create true planetary exploration.

I would like to see anything that has more uses for shuttles. Fleet maps / Stfs / Missions, just ANYTHING! We purchase these fancy little ships, and rarely get to use them. Please Cryptic, ADD ANYTHING so we can use our shuttles more.

A lot of the point of this suggestion is to create a place that you can go to at any time where your shuttle will really matter, and offers, fun, engaging shuttle content, some solo, some group.

Thats the Cryptic recipe alright. 1 teaspoon of fun for every 10 cups of grind.
