With the Assimilated Console being released from the existing Borg space set, and being placed in a set with a plasma projectile & a whacky cutting beam, what will all those who enjoy they're three piece Borg set do now? Will Aegis, Jemmy, Reman, Breen etc enjoy some new found lovin'?
I am not sure if switching over to the 3-piece Borg set without the console will not still be the better approach. Sure, you loose the 10% resistance bonus of the MACO, but the two heal abilities are just too valuable, most of the time.
Best way should be to actually try it out on Tribble.
You can run a six piece Borg set now though! Well, two 3-Borg sets. Course, I did chuckle when I saw the Plasma Torp. Players are still debating how that kinetic beam will work through shields - will it take a hit like torps - will it be more like trans - ignore shields - what will it do, eh?
The 3+1 folks do not appear to be grumbling over there as much as the 2+2 guys are...3+1's gotten a lot of hate when mixed in with all the rest.
Something else to consider is what kind of synergy might come about from the Rom Rep secondary set? Does Reman become viable? Does Plasma in PvP get tweaked?
But yeah - I'm curious as to how many people will drop the Maco shield for the 3-Borg, how many will go Maco or Omega or Honor.
Are there going to be other sets as part of the Omega Rep Grind? How many Rom sets in the Rom Rep Grind?
How many times will folks find themselves rerolling or considering buying more slots as S7 leads into S8 and into S9...?
On my Fed, I have never used a Borg 2-set. It was a MACO shield and deflector and a Omega Impulse Engine for a long time. I have since swapped the Omega engine for the Advanced Fleet Hyper-Impulse Engine [turn]x3 [spd]. Better turn rate than the Omega but manages to keep the same impulse speed, and it gets a gimped version of the MACO warp field ability.
On my Klingon, I use the Borg 2-set plus the KHG shield and deflector. I intend to switch to the Aegis engine when the changes are pushed out.
