The Aegis Set is obtained via Crafting. It always has been, and always will be.

While we're open to taking feedback on the stats and bonuses of the existing gear (let's call it the Aegis Mk XI Set, for simplicity), no new versions are likely to be introduced until we revisit the Crafting system as a whole.

And even then, I wouldn't expect this set to ever be exactly on-par with the STF sets. It's intended to be good enough to last most players until they can obtain Mk XI Omega sets. A few specific builds may get more life out of it, but that's a niche sort of thing.
I still prefer the aegis set in many ways....

However instead of that why not a set that is both crafted AND an STF set.

You could add STF reward items... either random drop... or for sale in the new stores... that allow the crafting of either mk xii aegis ... or Omega Aegis... or what ever you want to call it... that could require all the current things needed to craft an aegis set + 1 or how ever many of the special tech parts dropped from the STFs.

You could even for simplicity even just make it a craftable item that requires the Aegis Piece + the parts.

Seems to me it would be a pretty simple add... and what with crafting costing dilithium now Cryptic could come out with a nice little $$$ maker with very little dev time needed.

It is 2x harder to get an aegis set then it is to get a borg retro set or even a maco omega or khg. Just saying. Nothing is hard to obtain in this game... and the sets are the easiest of all gear to aquire with Zero input outside of time... the Crafted set however takes the Most amount of time if you are going to craft it... you must level your crafting (which takes more time then running 6 stfs and being done). Even if your toon is already at max crafting rating... and you have the traces and stuff anyway... it costs Dilithium on top these days for the unrep junk.

Seems to me the set with the lowest stat is in fact the most expensive set to obtain. Just saying.

PS... I understand you can say ya but you can just purchase the Aegis set from the exchange from a crafter... thats true... but perhaps an advanced Aegis set should be bind on creation... problem solved there. Long grind should equal a set that is =

Actualy I'm prety sure that the aegis set is the only one you can sell too.

The breen and jem sets are bind of pickup if I'm not mistaken.

The inherent problem is this, you level so fast in the game now that the Aegis, Breen, and Jemhadar sets are useless to use. For example, the Breen set, you now only get it at Rear Admiral Upper Half, instead of previously being able to get it at low ranks and use it as you rank up. By the time you are Upper Half, this set is useless because you'll use the Aegis set. In fact in my case, I just leveled a character, and hit level 50 before I even played the Breen missions to get the set, so its completely pointless for me at level 50 now.

Then you got the Jemhadar set, again, useless because you level up to Rear Admiral so quick and will just go with the Aegis. Then we got Aegis, but it doesn't take long to get the Borg set, so Aegis doesn't really live long either.

Point is, those three sets are useless because you level so fast past their usefulness. What you should do is make all sets have viability at end-game, so that gamers have a choice.

well, it wouldn't be bad if older sets like Aegis and Borg actually leveled upto Mk XI or XII rather than mk X since X was the cap when borg and Aegis came out. those sets would likely get used more if they were equal to the other sets, which the breen and jem hadar sets goto mk XI.

I have long been hoping for a chance to level the Aegis, Breen, and Jem'hadar sets to purple Mk XII. They introduced a way to do this with the Reman set and I think that is a good idea for all of the space and ground sets.

i like the aegis set and would like to see some type of improvement on it. some way to upgrade it along the lines of the reman set, but no vault.

i have all the sets and my maco/omega are level 12 and i still use the aegis set. basically, i think it is a pretty good set and it is one of the most visually appealing sets.

typically i like using the most powerful item available, but i also use items because i like the way they look. for me it makes the game more enjoyable.
