A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
ICONIC PVP BATTLES!!! A suggestion that could be a huge success. But hear me out and then tell me what you guys think.
Pilot Khan's Miranda! Fly the Enterprize-E as Captain Picard! Decimate your enemies as Captain Sisko in the original Defiant! Or..., menace the Federation in the I.K.S. Kang..., harry your foes as Captain Nero in his borg retrofitted mining ship! Any epic ship from any epic faction. Cardassian, Breen, Klingon, Romulan, Federation, Borg etc. If it made history it makes it into the list.
Or, go to ground and fight as your favorite characters from every movie and each series: Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Sulu, Riker, Data, LaForge, Nero, Alternate Universe Kirk, Dahar Master Kang, Sela, Khan, Gul DuKat, Major Kira, General Chang, Mirror Universe Kirk, The Duras Sisters, etc.
Now lets talk battlegrounds..., Fight at the Battle of Khitomer..., Battle through the wreckage of Wolf 359, wage war for the control of Deep Space 9..., even assaults on faction homeworlds like Vulcan, Andoria, Qo'nos, Earth...,
And the explanation for how any of this is possible? Holodeck strategic exercises.
Think about it like vs. games where you don't have to tweek out specs or work on gear. Each ship you select has a static build that never changes from player to player. Each ship has its strengths and weaknesses..., and to unlock the more epic ships you have to win (for certain ship unlocks) or participate in enough pvp matches to earn their use.
The game I got this idea from is a major comic book company and the game itself is the largest superhero/villain mmo out. Having this as an alternate PvP system would liven up the PvP side of the game and get people playing PvP that don't necessarily have the time or hundreds of millions of EC it takes to buy the absolute best gear. (Things now necessary to even cut your teeth in PvP these days.)
I also think this would bring back a lot of the hard core literalist style fans that only ever wanted to take their favorite Star Trek heroes and villains out for a spin. I mean who wouldn't want to PvP as Data..., whether on ground or piloting his Nebula from the series? I would. How about you guys?
I'd be happy if they made separate queues for premades and pugs, as well as adding proper mark choice for fleet and rep grinds on top of the usual rewards.... that alone would bring life to PvP more than anything else.
Yeah, and all sorts of different formats. I agree with you 100% Starcommando101. I mean, we have 4 pvp maps in space. Just 4. But in "ICONIC PvP" it would take you to epic areas with significance to the series and movies. And maybe Perfect World servers might not be able to handle 40 pvp'ers in the same que, higher numbers on either side could be awesome. And some of them might even have newer goals. Like a shuttle pvp where the object is for each team to escort their crippled capital carrier across the battlefield to the other team's spawn point while attempting to take out the other team's carrier. Cool right?
It would cost a lot of money to do it with little to
No finical reward to cryptic
Alright..., easy done. In both ground and space you start out with only one character. So say in space everyone has to start out with Khan piloting his Miranda. Then, through earning enough..., I don't know, lets say Marks of Strategy..., you unlock ships that increase in marks and to some degree quality. Here's the kicker. People who don't want to nug their way through hundreds of pvp battles can jump to better quality ships by purchasing certain ships/characters from the Z-Store that you can't earn with any marks at all. Exclusive to the store and allows people a jump up the ladder so it makes it easier to earn the better ships/captains that require a certain amount of wins instead of just participation marks which we'll call..., "marks of victory".
And if the Z-Store Iconic ships/Captains are popular and can't be earned through game play but only through the store..., I don't know about you, but if the only way I could access Commander Data or Lt. Worf for ground..., or fly the Enterprise-F or say "Warship Voyager" was to buy them with Zen...
Yeah, I'd pay for that. And since there are so many Iconic Captains and Ships, having a few set aside for purchase and putting the rest in the list of ships and captains to earn through gameplay would most likely work out extremely well and create another source of revenue for Perfect World. On top of that, it would probably appeal to a segment of our gamer community that hasn't been addressed and stimulate greater involvement and even an influx of new players that aren't interested in the rediculous amount of study and vast intricacies required to build ships or ground characters capable of just surviving PvP.
Cause lets face it..., if you aren't farming or spending vast amounts of money to buy things with zen to sell for EC so you can afford the gear you need and the ships you need to put that gear in..., you can't compete with the sharks that dominate our pvp system so thoroughly that it discourages all newcomers.
But this is a system where we could not only PvP on the ground or in space with our favorite characters or in our favorite ships, but it also levels the playing field. The ship comes as is with the set powers and abilities given it. Your personal character's skill tree and gear doesn't even come into play. Like a game of Mortal..., well, you know..., the character you select is the character you select. If it slings ice than it doesn't bicycle kick. You can't modify it because it is what it is. And like that game where people have preferences, but no single character is truly better than any other..., this idea would take the same approach. If you select Commander Spock for ground PvP, he's got a set of abilities that can't be altered, and maybe one or two abilities that are unique to him..., like a nerve pinch and maybe a quote from him when you use it on someone like..., "I find your actions to be highly illogical"
Anyways..., bit of a rabbit trail there but there's money in it for Perfect World and I think it would add a much needed reprieve for those of us who have already ground out every last bit of end game content and need something fair and less frustrating than the colorless PvP system we have now where he who has the best bought ship and gear and whose team uses the best macro wins.

I really love this idea, esp. the reenactment part. And I am alllll for revitalizing PvP. It is interesting to hear that you got this idea from a comic book. In fact, the Colosseum in Rome played host to reenacted naval battles. So there is along history of humanity loving to reenact its historic battles.
In spite of your great idea, I doubt Cryptic will invest in such a project--at least not for a few seasons.
