You know... all these changes does seem to make it worth all the dil we will be sinking into the rep system.
Also, I think I've seen this before. Ah yes, every single PWE game has a system where doing a crazy grind makes you redonculously powerful (Jade Dynasty's everything past level 150 Chroma, BLA's Paragon, ELO's affinity).
STO is going down that path too... Ah well, at least the dil required doesn't seem so bad now.
And I like what its doing to the zen market. I can buy more zen with the same dil as people are now hording dil instead of spending it on zen, causing a shift in supply.

+crit and + starship weapons need no further introduction. I'm glad I took full energy weapon spec; these changes maximize my "terrible" all-out offense build and cloak build. :p

More ways for PvErs to gimp their builds, especially if there is no way to respec these choices. One choice for example only works against Borg, while the other one is genuinely useful.
More power creep across the board, because healing and damage weren't extreme enough before.
Many of these mechanics are poorly thought out, including pretty much anything to do with critical hits. Getting free shield heals when you're critically hit? Placating your attacker when you're critically hit? Placating your target when you crit them -- which wears off when you do more damage? Really?
Ideally these would just be disabled in PvP. Otherwise, if it's a significant grind this will probably drive me completely away from STO and into the arms of MWO.
altho i agree mostly, damage power creep was never an issue. MOAR DMG PLEASE
my favorite is now my constant stream of high power crits will leave you without a target, really asking wtf was that. epic +1
