A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
it depends on how much they increase the skill and if we can convince them to change the consoles to engineering instead of sci.... as long as it boosts by a reasonable amount then it could allow tank cruisers to actually have the ability to pull aggro from my escort in an armitage. the question is if cryptic is willing to implement this in a reasonable way
In my opinion these consoles need to do something other than just add threat control. (Full disclosure: I have not seen them yet, they may do more than just threat control)
Neither the Threat Control skill on ground/space, nor Draw Fire on the ground work like this they both grant extra resistance to deal with the greater incoming damage.
While an item that would help with Threat Control is welcome, these consoles appear they will do so with too high an opportunity cost.
I'd add in resistance to "all energy damage" and "kinetic damage" equal to about half to two-thirds of what the same rank and quality of Neutronium Armor would grant (so about +10 to +12 for the Mk. XII purple quality). It needs to give enough resistance to be worthwhile, but not so much as to out-armor the dedicated armor consoles.
Hmmm, speaking of damage resistance, one kind of console that we could do with is a shield resistance console. Basically they would do the same thing for shields that armor does for hull--add resistance to a particular damage type.
There are several variations on these new consoles.
Each console adds one property from each of these three categories:
Category 1: Either increased or decreased threat generation.
Category 2: A bonus to a Science skill, i.e. Starship Sensors.
Category 3: One of three additional powers.
a) 2.5% Chance to restore Shields when you are hit.
b) 2.5% Chance to restore Hull when you are hit.
c) 2.5% Chance to add a Plasma DoT on Directed Energy weapon attacks. (Essentially, adding the Plasma proc to a non-plasma weapon.) If your weapon is already a Plasma weapon, this adds Plasma damage to that weapon instead.
Thus, a sample item might have +threat generation, +starship sensors, and a 2.5 Chance whenever your shield is hit to proc a shield heal.
Alright, so it seems that each console has three abilities. Not too bad. I also like that you can decrease threat as well as increase it--that will be great for Escorts that want to do damage without pulling threat as quickly while Cruisers can boost their threat generation to draw enemy fire.

Will C work with Projectile weapons? Will a Plasma weapon energy or Plasma Projectile get a boost to proc damage 100% of the time or just a 2.5% chance for extra proc damage? Thanks for info
I like the sound of this, could make Plasma weapons viable again.

This only applies to Directed Energy weapons at this time. If you are already using a Plasma Directed Energy weapon, it will increase the total damage of the weapon by a percentage based on the tier of the console.
Sounds really interesting, and a welcome improvement to the current science consoles. Would you be kind enough to post here a list of the sicence abilities these consoles can improve?
One of the main purposes of my question: will we ever see a -/+threat +shield cap +plasma dot console?
