I'm not sure if I posted this in the right section but I decided to make a tacticial but I don't know which type of ship is best for what I want to do. I would like to be PvE, DPS, dont really want to have to deal with the lockboxes. If anyone needs any more info let me know.

If you are doing PVE only I suggest the following:

Patrol Escort (or Fleet Patrol Escort if you are in a fleet and have access to it)

Weapons: 3 Dual Heavy Cannons, 1 Quantum Torp, 3 Turrets - All Borg Mk XI or XII if you have the salvage.

Energy Type: Disruptor. You could also use Antiproton if you want, but I would go Disruptor. It is more useful in a team setting. AP consoles are also much more expensive.

Set: Borg Deflector and Engine with MACO Shield. If you don't have the MACO yet but do have Aegis, use that. If you have neither, get a [CAP]x2 [PLA]

Consoles (Mk XI blue):
Engineering: Borg Console, Neutronium Alloy, your choice ( I suggest RCS or Tetraburnium)
Science: 2 x Field Generator
Tactical: 4 x Disruptor Coil

Devices: Weapons Batteries, your choice

BOff Powers:
Commander Tac: TT1, TS2, CSV2, APB3
Lt. Commander Tac: TT1, CRF1, APO1
Lt. Engineering. EPtS1, RSP1
Ens. Engineering: EPsS1
Lt. Science: HE1, TSS1

DOffs: 2 Evasive Conn Officers, 2 BFI Shield Officers, Your Choice

You can change out CRF1 for CSV1 but I never suggest it because people will activate it while leveling down a generator in Infected and pop other generators unintentionally that could ruin the optional and get you chewed out. In Cure you will shoot multiple generators and possibly the cube which will draw a lot of aggro which could get you popped. Do it at your own risk.

With a couple of small changes you could take this into PvP as well.

I would read through this as well: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=244532

Most tactical captains prefer the Defiant class ship or the retrofit as it works well in PVP and PVE.
