The penalty for ship destruction is so mild
That it is virtually ignored , the player repairs the
Minor damage and charges headlong right back into
The unrealistic position he just left, a lot of the time
Just getting destroyed again.
I propose the following
Upon ship destruction
Shields stay at 25% gradually returning to normal I'n 5 minutes
Provided crew at 100% a graduated fraction of that amount if they
Are out of action as well
Hull same formula
Crit component needed. 1 to 3
Major component needed. 1 to 5
Minor component needed. 1to 12
It would drastically change the way people play
The way they build there ships
The ships they choose to use
The same formula could be used on characters on
This could be a Elite only setting too but it should met
The player using it a much greater reward
I think the system currently I'n use is way too easy it's
Almost no penalty at all and encourages zerging
I think it would add a tremendously amount of replayability
To missions if the reward for using it was just to the

There are No Longer any STO Veterans... We're Just People who have Played the Game for the last 4.5 years.
I Really Do Miss the little TOP Button at the bottom of the threads.
When the game was new, blowing up was dramatic and effective. And everyone blew up from basic combat regardless of level or combat map. It doesn't really fit the style of the game these days.
With the addition of the difficulty settings so long ago, I always wondered why it was necessary for our starships to continue blowing up at all on Basic? Save destruction - with or without the suggested higher penalties - for those starships with the highest % of critical damage on Elite. With Advanced also being a better defined gray area.
Making something increasingly difficult and frustrating does not necessarily make it fun, just more darn annoying, besides it won't work in STO.
The game design is quirky and arcade'ish at best. The NPC's are just plain awful and they don't adapt to the player play style.
STO version of an end game dungeon is making the enemies increasingly hard to kill but increasing their HP to gazillion percent and making thier invisible Plasma Torp hit you for 999999999999999999999999999999999999999% DMG.
No skills involved
No Nothing, but a dummied down opponent. Pew pew pew pew fire back pew pew pew.
Ever played the game F.E.A.R? How enemies adapt / very basic but ingenuis
Ever played TERRA Online? Skills and combat system is unmatched / second to none
Ever played Bridge Commander? The space sim, while not revolutionary, it captures the essence of Trek Combat. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN !!!!!!!!!!
While your idea is great an awesome, it just simply too advance for the simplicity of this game. In regards to PvP, hmm? Dunno, does STO have PvP anymore -
