If the Vesta-class ship only gets released to the Feds, then I truly believe the demise of the "multi-faction" idea underpinning Star Trek is also achieved.
At some point, Fed players will realise that the only Klingons left to fight are in PvE. And looking at the number of KDF themed missions, thats not a whole lot either.
Looking at the forced imbalance of recent ships, I believe that this is Cryptic's motive. Rid themselves of something they perceive as a risk/ liability and consolidate their revenue stream. The KDF is not lucrative. How could it be, when Cryptic shoot themselves in the foot constantly.
But, only having a Fed. playable faction will be STO's achilles heal.
Starfleet just don't want to kill Starfleet.
KDF PvP, cannot continue an uphill climb forever, so I believe at some point KDF PvP will just end.
Soon afterwards, Feds will realise what they have caused.
Enter the Romulans, and the precedent has already been set.
Of course they're gonna release the Vesta for the Feds only...it's a Federation ship after all.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean but I guess you want to say something equally useful should appear on the KDF side as well.
Please guys, this is not a Vesta discussion thread. I made it to point out the odd similarity I found between the number of rings and the number of VA/LG ships (and the 1000-day vet ships).
I completed a two-man ISE, CSE, KASE, and HSE. We are the Borg. Irrelevancy is irrelevant.
If you say banana slowly, you can hear the word gullible in it.
There's no Q in Star Trek.
DHCs and pets at the same time is a bit too much. DHCs would have been enough but Cryptic need massive sales and massive sales will only come if the new ship is better than the previous one.

What did you think was going to happen with a humourous LotR/ST post?
The same thing that happens with any post in the STO forums: "Escorts are better than *insert your fave ship here*", swiftly followed by: "KDF are sooo badly done to!" and finally: "If the devs don't give me what I want then nobody should have anything!"
Anyhow, aside from that, the LotR brevity started off as a refreshing break from the usual depressing attitude.

No no no. You have it all wrong. It's "Tac captains are OP. Nerf them. Buff Engineers! (which I kind of agree with), forget sci captains!" which goes hand in hand with "Escorts are overpowered. They need to be nerfed. Cruisers need to be made into god ships. Forget science."
This is then followed by "Oh come on, throw us a bone cryptic, or a targ, SOMETHING!" (KDF players), followed by "Beam arrays need to be made insanely powerful and only able to be put in Federation Cruisers. Screw the KDF they have BattleCruisers with dual heavy cannons." (a few fed players, we all know who)..
Shortly followed by the usual BS that follows with real players who actually look at stats and roles and abilities trying to talk sense into the wannabe kirks while escort and cruiser pilots duke it out on the thread about who does what when and how, whilst I sit back with some popcorn and occasionally try to throw in some common sense wondering why science got nerfed so hard.
What did you expect? But I do agree, loved the LoTR part at the start.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
^^ Exactly why I want this whole argument out of my thread, which I repeat, was made for pointing out the funny coincidence of rings to ships. While I did hint at the overpowering of escorts in the STO adapted poem when compared to cruisers and science ships (Seven for the Tactical-warlords in their bridges of power,) I was not intending this to be discussed as a ship thread. I guess giving the explanation of the overpowered Vesta being the one to rule them all just attracted unwanted discussion.
But let's get this thing back on topic everyone, please and thank you.

I didn't really follow the discussions on the forum about the Vesta. But I bet it will have a special console equiped. Otherwise it would be - as you said - a science version of the Armitage. And I don't think this would convice that many people to buy it.
what i find a bit annoying is that they already have one that is SORT of a science FDC
the Atrox...the devs seem to favor the feds over the kdf (even though i only ever use my kdf for grinding contra and dilth lol
Hello, STO! Who takes the Vesta takes the Universe? But, bad news everyone, 'cause guess who! Ha! Except, you lot, you're all whizzing about, it's really very distracting. Could you all just stay still a minute because I AM TALKING! Now, the question for the hour is, "Who's got theVesta?" Answer: I do. Next question: "Who's coming to take it from me?" Come on, look at me! No plan, no backup, no weapons worth a darn, oh, and something else I don't have anything to lose! So, if you're sitting up there in your silly little starships with all your silly littlephasers, and you've got any plans on taking the Vesta today, just remember who's standing in your way! Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, *and then*, do the smart thing!
