What is going to be scary is a tac in a vesta. Let the player build sensor analylist (SA), Attack pattern Alpha, attack patern omega,and tactical fleet. That is going to be a heavy punch. Specially if all other abilities are based on heals and keeping him self alive. He could run two copies of EPtS and two copies of TSS. High regen shields and five shield consules to help take the damage. I am willing to bet with five shield consoles shield strength would be near 20k per facing and with tac team that means someone would have to hit you with near 80k worth of damage to get to your hull. There are going to be good builds but it all comes down to the player and his build.

Sci captains were not dps dealers but with this new ship the situation changes. Finally sci captains can use there unique abilities gravity well and re-pulsars and have very nice dps. The hangar bay adds a little insult to injury because that's what the Fleet escort carrier was for.

But it is true that the engineering captain comes up short again. While the extra Hull helps mitigate damage. Cruisers can't finish the dps job as well as escorts and this Vesta can.

I am one of those persons who thinks: "So, a new ship, eh? Aux cannons you say? 3-part console you say? Then I am going to go with no cannons, and none of those consoles, because that's what the They want me to do. They want me to sacrifice console slots for those universal ones, so I won't do it."

Eh, this thread is a week older =p. The ship was supposed to be handed out to a select group of testers, but I haven't seen any of them post about their experiences unless I've skipped over it. I don't think they'd have an NDA over a ship.

The fact that it wasn't put on the experimental ship vendor is kind of odd. To me it says they're worried about its effect on gameplay, skewing their tests of the new content for season 7 (Which is as much a bad reason as a good reason. If it is that effective or a wild-card, why release it in the first place? Plenty of people are running the Chimaera and C-Store ships on Tribble.) or they're worried that people will not buy it when released if they played with it on Tribble.

I'm ready for my "OP'd ship" I honestly don't think it will do more damage then an escort however Im going all heals and tac on mine to make it survive better but still dish out some damage....
Im going
Tac Team 1 x2
Cannon spread x2
Em Power to shields x2
Rsp x1
polarize hull 1, tss 2, hazard emit 3, grav well 3
I can only afford one so im getting the tact ship version
4 mk xii plasma cannon boosters
1 nutronium 1 kientic only resist (forgot the name)
Borg Crit Console, two romulan science with bonus plasma damage, 1 console for gravity well
3 dhc plasma crit x2
Omega engines and deflector for bonus acc plus tet glider ... Omega shield all mk xii

BAM! Well see how that does PVE
Oh and if i can get more lobi eventually replace one romulan console with the new consule from the future thats bonus turnrate and crit

What is going to be interesting is what Tac Captains make of the Vesta!

At the moment, a Tac Toon/Sci Ship combo is an interesting one (especially as a Tac Caps Skills Buff SCI DMG as well) and I for one look forward to seeing what combos we all come up with!

Anyone else think that i'm on to something or am i crazy??

This ship will probably be the Omega/Romulan elite mission finisher of choice. It has most of the abilities of a sci ship/ most of the abilities of an escort. People are countering that the hull is weak and that is because it can shield tank.

No doubt there will be Tacs flying these, though I don't think it'll be as bad as Kar'fi where most of them are captained by Tacs.
