# 1 Aquarius Destroyer

How come the Oddy's aquarius can retract and extent its nacelles and my stand alone Aquarius Destroyer cant. I think they should rig it to where i can extend or retract them based on a battle mode or something, similar to the D'kora and the Chimerra. The ship is awesome dont get me wrong, i jsut feel like i should be able to do the same thing that the NPC can. im just sayin
*Me*Why don't you just step away from the weapons console. You and I both know that you couldn't hit that cube, even if it was right in front of us.
*Junior Tactical Officer* But sir the cube IS right in front of us.
*Me* EXACTLY! Its right in front of us and you still missed it! Just step away from the console.

Good chance you won't like this, perhaps even refuse.

When on the oddy, the aquarius is in "offline mode", meaning everything is pretty much shut down.
Also, it would look stupid if it was docked with it's nacells out, and be very fragile.

true, that i understand. but think about it, the ship would be alot more aerodinamic if we could retract the engines. like for instance, if i am in sector space, extend the nacelles like the struts on the intrepid moves when going to warp. extend them out and then jump to warp. and then just allow for the option to retract them. maybe grant a bonus to turn rate and speed when retracted. and a bonus to say weapons and shields when extended.

The warp Nacelles on the intrepid change position to the 50%-bussard rule (Star Trek Ship design rule... Granted cryptic ignores them), not to look cool, or to be areo-dynamic.

Fact probably is, that Cryptic simply thought it would look cool, and put it in... They entirely ignore almost every design-rule set up for the Star Trek Universe, when it comes to ships.

The animation exists when the Aquarius is docking and launching from the Odyssey, its pretty clear the ship requires the nacelles to extend to operate otherwise it would not do that, the Defiant certainly didnt and they are roughly the same size.

exactly. the defiant didnt need to follow that rule with the angle of the nacelles. if u retract them, its gonna look like a cool lil ship. ive seen pics of wat the NPC aquarius looks like retracted and i think it looks awesome. Not that it doesnt look amazing with them extended. i would just prefer to have the option to have it either way. thats just my opinion

You do realize that is not an issue in space, right?

The whole 50% nacelle thing is totally bogus. Hate to say it but Rodenbury used it as a excuse to de-canonize a book. He had drawing of ships that didnt have the nacelle rule. And who is to say that in the future of star trek they have found a way around the physics of the 50% rule.

Anyway I think they should have the nacelles be out during either warp/sector space preferably or vice versa.

I would like them to retract during combat, as they look too flimsy to be out during combat. Just my opinion

Based on the operation of the Aquarius Escort overall, since the cannon hardpoints are located on the warp pylons, the warp nacelles should be deployed during combat and stored during warp.

You could also say that the narrower ship profile in warp gives it "blah blah techno-babble subspace streamline effect" or some such.

Agreed.
