Ok, server still down, a little bored and this thought entered my mind:
Right now pretty much everyone agrees that the galaxy class is an awesome damage sponge, don't want to call it a tank as it can't pull aggro from any target that also has high dps hammering it.
Most redundant feature is the lone engineering ensign that can't be used for any abilities you aren't already using so always suffers from global cooldowns.
Then I thought about some of the other refits getting some themed weapons, like the quad phasers on the Defiant or the wide arc quantum torp.
Now my idea that would fit the Galaxy class and give it some much needed teeth without being OP would be a rapid fire photon launcher that can only be used on Exploration Cruiser Refits.
Basically the launcher would only have the global photon torpedo cooldown and could fire them just as fast as other ships with 2 launchers, which have diminishing returns because it costs another weapons slot.
So, this way, the galaxy wouldn't suddenly get higher burst damage, but become more dangerous in front/rear arc through damage build up over time and offset the low turnrate and aid in it's tanking ability.
The damage would stay the same in the broadside arc through mainly beams or single cannons to a lesser degree.
For retained monetization only the C-Store version gets it, not the Veteran token version.
