This game is quite enjoyable if you can step back enjoy it for what it is. I am a trekkie, I could get worked up about canon this or canon that, but I don't. To me this game is a Star Trek theme park wrapped around an MMO...and its free for the most part. Create your toons, see the sights, do the MMO thing, press your mouse alot and fling the little harry potter tricks at eachother, enjoy it and call it a day. I have been entertained.

There are plenty of other gaming options if this one doesn't meet your needs. Bridge Commander was great for putting you in the 'chair' and prioritizing energy and repair needs. ST Excalibur should be great too. Lots of other games that simulate combat decision making or systems managment. There are even simulators soley dedicated to space exploration.

So thank you Cryptic for providing this relatively free form of trek entertainment. Is it perfect? no, I don't expect it to be...especially for a F2P. Could things be improved, sure, but as someone who works in IT, I know what its like to bang my head against a wall tracking down a bug. Trekkies are one of the hardest groups to please, so if you can keep 51% of them happy, you have done your job.

Cheers

I agree. Its the best Trek game I have ever played. Heaps of fun. Yes all these changes are perplexing but by and large to be expected. The game is a business afterall. However its a free game.A FREE game!! Up to you if you want to stick money in for a few extras! I got a regent and a Escort retrofit and one or two other bits. Thanks Cryptic!

You can't use f2p as an excuse for the game's shortcommings when the game is being paid for by so many players.

And there sure as hell isn't 51% of the trek fanbase playing this game.

I just don't understand how these people who are complaining about DL go through so much of it. I don't donate to the starbase unless I have over 300K and always stop donating so that I maintain a minimum of 300k. Even then I don't go out of my way, and I rarely spend it on weapons. I just get the best stuff and roll with it.

I don't convert it to Zen... but I never understood why people did that as it's a loosing proposition. Even before Season 7 it was a bad deal. The time spent trying to gather enough DL for zen is way to high... You could work 1 hour cleaning toilets for minimum wage and be able to earn more zen.

Min wage is $7.75 say you get $6 after taxes. That is 600 zen.... can you earn enough DL in one hour to buy 600 zen? NO
1hr of work @NYS Min Wage 7.25 = 725 Zen
725 x 102 (or current exchange rate) DL = 73950 DL <- can you earn that per hour in game?

How much did PWE's marketing department pay you? Your nonsense post does nothing more than brown nose a company that doesn't deserve it. You make me suspect that you're nothing more than a sock account controlled by the marketing department to make people accept it. I won't I'm quitting. There's nothing added to the game in the new season (nothing worthwhile) and far to much taken away. I will take my money elsewhere.

hahahaha, I suggest not taking the game seriously and you all think I am brown nosing Cryptic...thats rich....Trust me, I would bet my logged time in STO is much less than yours. oh I did buy a B'rel retrofit because I wanted to fly around this trek themepark in a ship that was actually in the show.

I am sorry you all spent hours and hours in front of the computer grinding, grinding, grinding, grinding...all to add a little extra bling bling to your ships and toons.

I know how you feel, I am a flight sim geek, the base FS product I use is made by Micro$oft...talk about a program that is half assed in a some areas....but it has a very strong user community who develop addons that make up for MS's lack of attention to detail.

The last time I got tired of STO...guess what I did....I did somthing else, it was great, and when I decided to come back...my toons were still there. I didn't miss anything because my ship wasn't as tricked out if I had been there all the time.

If you really don't like what Cryptic is doing...don't play, don't participate, thats how you force change.
Look at the NFL for example. People complain about the NFL all the time, such as the refs. If you want them to change, boycott the NFL, don't watch football, don't go to games, don't buy their merchandise. If they start taking a real hit in their wallet, they will reevaulate their marketing plan. But NFL fans don't boycott, they continue to participate, the NFL keeps raking in the dough...and they don't change.

More like the Spirit of Cryptic\PWE. Anytime time the players say they really object to what's happening, the response from Cryptic\PWE is like they're channeling Richard* Cheney working at Wal-Mart

*seriously what's wrong with the short form of Richard?

I love ST, I love the Foundry (unlike Cryptic), and I have met some great people here so I am going to try tuffing it out for at least a while.

THAT SAID: I hope this MMO dies-out sooner rather than later so that another developer can get access to the IP you have squandered and **** on, Cryptic.
