# 1 Tasha Yar to be featured in STO?
11-18-2012, 03:18 PM
Came across this tidbit in StarTrek.com's 18 November coverage of Creation Entertainment's Official Star Trek Convention in San Francisco:

Quote:
The next speaker is a much-loved actress from TNG, Denise Crosby, who arrived with much audience excitement. After doing a shout-out to Giants fans, she revealed that she had gone to school in Santa Cruz. She announced that she is developing a game with CBS Consumer Products for Star Trek Online in which we discover that Tasha Yar lives. The character who died on the show was actually a clone. Denise also (half-jokingly) conjectured that Tasha and Sela would one day face off.
Assuming Crosby isn't pulling a leg, wouldn't this somehow cheapen her character's decision to join the crew of the timeskipping Ent-C and her eventual fate as a Romulan POW?

Game features I'd like to see improved / expanded: Better Ship Interiors // BOff Costume Slots

Depends which version of her was a clone. If it was the one from the alternate timeline and into the Ent C, then yes it does. If it is the original version that died from Mr Oilslick, then no. It would allow the character to be given the screen time and awesomeness she deserves.

If she is doing the Tasha voice work, she would be likely be doing Selas as well, that would be interesting considering when we saw her last, whos she bringing back with her

Tasha Yar should stay dead, but I would love Denise Crosby to come back as Sela, she was epic.

In the words of Mr Nimoy "...in science fiction anything can happen!"

Yeah, they love to kill off characters but they're loathe to let them go. Every show had examples, but Tasha Yar's probably the best, having died, been brought back in an alternate universe just to be time traveled back out of existence, but to return as her own half Romulan identical twin baby. And she was the one character they specifically closed death's door behind, who was supposed to be gone for real. Jean Gray would be proud.

Three interpretations of this come to mind:

A. A time travel episode involving the Enterprise-C after it goes into the past. The alternate universe Tasha Yar is returned to STO's present and Sela's mother is a clone created by the Romulans after the fact.
B. The "clone" refers to the alternate-universe Yar, and the prime-universe Yar's death in Skin of Evil wasn't what it appeared, and she is still alive in some form, presumably noncorporeal to bypass the aging problem, and might still be retrieved.

Third one isn't really an interpretation, but bears saying:
C. The statement isn't completely accurate. From what we've heard, the devs were going to the convention specifically to nag her into this job, so chances are she has limited details on what she'll be doing in STO, and was trying to fill in blanks.

Tasha needs to stay dead, Sela on the other hand deserves glorious episodes worth of content.
The Somraw, K'tinga, D'Kyr, D7, Kumari, Xindi carrier, Xindi escort, and the T'Varo are all older than the Constitution Refit and yet they are tier 5. The Constellation is made up primarily of Connie refit parts and it is tier 5, there is no logical reason whatsoever for the no tier 5/6 connie rule.

Crosby was great in both of her characters. How Tasha is revived though I sincerely hope isn't left upto Cryptic.s abysmal writing team. Her doing voice work in STO though would be awesome! Other than Nimoy, Crosby would be the second decent voice actor to put some time into this game.
