It' time for Starfleet to launch it's first ship with a Phased Battle cloak seen in TNG

So heres the Backstory:

Starfleet in return for helping the Romulans has them agree to modify the treaty to allow the production of a ship with a Phased - or non-traditional battle cloak

But being still the guys who would rather keep their hands looking squeeky clean just in case they task the Andorians with adding it to a new line of Andorian Destroyers.

With the Romulans blessing and the KDF at war starfleet can pass off this controversal project to the Andorians who would have no problen taking on the challenge - as is their nature.

So Would a Andorian Destroyer/Escort with an Inherent Phased Battle Cloak be a Hot seller?

I personally know tons of people who would pony up 2500 zen for it already!

I know PvP - yadda yadda yadda - balance yadda yadda yadda - PvP is a walking dead and going no-where Cryptic just needs to put it down and out of it's misery.

Edit: As you will see later in the thread I believe Mr Stahl's "resolution" to the KDF storyline in season 8 is an end to the War - the fighting ends - balance mute.

I'm...I'm not even sure how to reply to this one.

PvP isn't the group that'd be mad by this, there are plenty of things to de-cloak a ship (unless for some wild and crazy reason this thing would be immune to de-cloaks or something)...It's the Klingon side of the game that'd be rightly ticked off.

My biggest question is: WHY?

I mean that, WHY does it need a battle cloak, a Phasing cloak at that? Where in soft-canon was it shown having a cloak of any kind? A game, a book, something else? Is there any basis whatsoever for this, aside from just wanting to have it?

I am no diplomat, but I REALLY doubt the Romulans would agree with a big change like that so quickly to the Treaty of Algeron. I mean, if anything, they'd be extremely suspicious of the Federation of making such a sudden change. It could even lead to a huge breakdown of diplomatic ties.

Putting all that aside then...what would it give up for this phased battle cloak? I feel...

Only 2 rear weapon slots
Letting it have no more than 4 tactical consoles, TOPS
Lower shields and hull than a Defiant (normal VA Defiant, not Fleet one)
And make the Phased Cloak a console.

I'd be more willing to go with this idea, if in turn, these things were done for the Andorian ship, because pretty much all those things are exactly what a BoP has to give up for their battle cloak (except the console slot, but they only have a 3/3/3 console layout anyways, except fleet BoPs). I still wouldn't LIKE the idea though.

I have a hard time swallowing the notion that the Romulans would modify a treaty so the Feds could have a phased cloak that would be made by the Andorians. I mean did you not watch Enterprise? The Andorians have a history of not trusting anyone, especially those with pointy ears. Romulans trusting someone who does not trust them? Hells bells the Romulans are Andorians with pointy ears when it comes to trusting other races. LOL

Two bigots who are bigoted against each other are not inclined to get along.

The Romulans would walk away from that table long before an agreement to modify any treaty could be reached.
If you are a pickle in a pickle jar you know every pickle's different, sort of, but really they're all just pickles...
They taste the same.

heh, considering the time gap between that episode of enterprise, and the destruction of romulas, and then way societies and cultures change with time as well as with major events such as the destruction of a home world, and the fact that the romulan people have been oppressed by their military and Tal'shiar, including the fact that the in game store line has the Romulan diplomat being of the "Reunification groups" that Spock advised, additionally remembering an episode of ST:TNG where an admiral was recovering a StarFleet Phase cloaking device and Riker grew a conscious and got them both arrested.

The idea of Star Fleet having cloaking devices at all is more then well within the realms of possible.

Only the Tal'Shiar Romulans would have a strong objection. The Tal'shiar still choose to be enemies with the feds and the KDF.

Sure, you can have that.

If the ship gets 16000 hull, 4/2 weapon slot, and a max of 8 consoles. and 4 boff stations and 2 device slots.

What you don't like the downsides? To bad.

Now is the most logical time to start implimenting the Phased battle Cloak.

Fed is at war with the KDF - so we can forget their complaints.

Fed is helping to re-build the romulans - they could hardly be in much of a position to object, especially if The Fed signed a mutual protection pact or something alone those lines. Guarenteeing supplies, materials, components, military aid. Romulans most likely looking at it with just a short-term play along until they get re-built and back up to full strength.

I can see many support tickets with the headlines

Stuck in planet.

Stuck in friend's ship.

Stuck inside ESD, from the outside.

What would be the point of a phase cloak in this game???? the point of traveling through stuff for what purpose?? I see no reason for a phase cloak. When I use my cloak in this game not once have I said man if only I could just go through them instead of slightly around them.

The point is there are lots of Fed-only players obsessed with cloaking devices and this is the equivalent of a cloakgasm.
