I was on New Romulus, in one of the various landscapes, watching wildlife. Although, I was allowed to bring down one bridge officer, I elected to bring down an officer I tailor made to be a generic security officer. (See the backstory below.)

I figured I didn't need a security officer following me around all the time, the zone seemed relatively safe, so I placed him on guard at the Romulan scientist's tent until I returned. I went about my usual routine of collecting rock and plant specimens and wandered some distance from the camp. At some point I got blind-sided by a couple of Hirogen! A phaser fight ensued and frankly with two on one, I wasn't looking at a happy ending. However, I was surprised when TWO security officers (dressed in TOS redshirts) suddenly ran over the hill, sporting phaser rifles and helped to finish off the attackers. Once the threat was eliminated, the two redshirts didn't stay with me but instead ran back the way they'd came. I sat there for a moment perplexed and then realised how it happened.

Back story: For those of you who don't know what the "Orb of Reflection" is: It's an item that goes into the same slot as your hyposprays and shield regens. It summons two carbon copies of yourself (equipped with phaser rifles, if your a Fed) which function in the same manner as security escorts, only they last a little longer than the standard security escort, this item can be used by all classes and the Orb has a longer cooldown.

I rolled up a generic bridge officer and named him "Security". I put him in a TOS redshirt and then gave him the orb. I was testing to see if I could have additional security guards wearing the correct uniform (which they do) and to see if they would fight as well as the guards summoned by secuity escort. (Which they also do.) I didn't know, however, that they would be summoned and run to my aid even with the bridge officer holding the orb stationed half a zone away. Props to the security officer for requesting backup to save the captain's arse.

Heh, that's a nice story.

Good one. That means that security guy maintaned his orders to guard the scientist's tent, and was able to save his Captain. That guy deserves a commendation.

Where do you get the "Orb of Reflection" from ... sounds like a cool thing to have

Complete the 2800 featured epsiodes (The Dominion ones) when they have a replay week on. You get it as the special reward from the final mission. But only when they have the replay session. If you replay normally, you wont get it.

glad you pointed that out, that my bridge officers can use it, I will most definately be passing it to one of my BO's when and if I ever do a ground mission or going to New Romulus.

I put my IDIC tribble on my BO too, they like to pet tribbles too much, a buff refresh like every 5 mins incredible!
