I have also enjoyed the different abilities of the Tholians. They're also visually very cool, and the idea to add more things in space like webs is somethig I enjoy, especially for its novelty. I don't know when it was added, but the Gorn shield thing that's like the Tholian barrier is also cool.

The two problems I have with Red Alerts are:

1. Every enemy is agroed to the spawn. I don't if I just never end up in the instance before a player does something stupid, they're programmed to move there, or if the area is too small, but there's no indication that the Tholians you're fighting are part of specific groups. You can kill dozens of Tholians before a single group objective is completed.

2. Getting kicked as soon you enter.

I've used ET, and it lasts they way its supposed to for the duration of ET.

tholians are truly the most annoying thing to fight because of that, especially when its a race against the clock most of the time your fight them. i've had weapons disabled by orbs and recluses as well, maybe it wasn't the faw disable but a normal target sub system.
Their torpedoes drain weapons power and I'm pretty sure all of them except maybe the fighter have some kind of target weapons.

Anyway, I've noticed the Red Matter Capacitor has stopped repairing subsystems. The tooltip says it repairs Auxiliary in one part and then says it repairs all systems in another (and a patch a ways back said this was an addition), but it doesn't seem to be repairing anything right now. That's been my main gripe with Tholians, my standard counter doesn't work. Everything else that should work seems to, so tis' not so much an issue of it not being cleared in the usual way as it is that there's so much of it going around that you can easily get it reapplied.

That is why its a un-fun fight, the few times it actually send me to Tholians we managed to do some dents to the groups before the Cryptic's Middle Finger Clock strikes and the Tholians just picked the ball and gone home.

Even the Borg are more generous with the timer and they are spread out, also Tholians employ mass spamming tactics that are just cheap.

So so far we have bloated HP, spam and cheats ... I wonder why anyone would ever want to enter a Tholian Red Alert were the fight is rigged against the players that are outnumbered, outmatched and are set on a timer.

Their Tholian Webs also make it a near-necessity to keep an AOE power like Photonic Shockwave, Tractor Beam Repulsors, or Beam Fire-at-Will on hand and ready to use.
Problem is no one likes to switch their boff layout just to fight different enemies. The same way no one likes to have to switch gear around depending on the enemy they're facing (and the reason why resistance specific shields see so little use). In the end people prefer to slog through without ideal tools and gear rather than suffer the hassle of switching gear and boffs around constantly.

I like the new tholian red alerts, it's a great place to use my science abilities. TBRs are extremely useful there. Far more than gravity wells.

My only concern is that we always warp in ended/failed red alerts and have to warp in and out many times to find one.

Speaking of subsystem disables, Borticus, do you know why Weapons Batteries fix disabled weapons but the Red Matter Capacitor does not?

Yeah and don't you think Aux2Batt should restore the 3 subsystems it shunts power to? It only lasts 10 seconds and it's a pretty useless ability on its own otherwise.

Words that in no way describe the current situation of fighting tholians, especially given that 90% of their appearances are in situations where you're fighting them, and a clock.

I'd say people would like to switch boff layouts for different enemies, if they could do so with saved presets.
