Do you know Elon Musk? If not he's been talking about setting up a Mars Colony, and he wants 80,000 people to go there. That's 80,000 per year mind you.
I find it interesting that he wants people to pay their own way also. The question is though. Who is he going to get that'll not only pay their own way, but also do the labor needed to build the necessary structures for all those people to inhabit. That'll need a few thousand by itself to build and maintain those facilities.
On another note. I wouldn't mind being part of that labor force (or at least a supervisor ) for a chance to go to Mars. As stated in last night Big Bang Theory episode, we should use it since no one else is. :p
1. What's the tax rate
2. How hot/scantily clad/easy are the women
3. Is smoking whatever I like in public legal
In all seriousness, this is just a scam to get more tax money as subsidies and to try to stay in the public eye. SpaceX can't even get satellites in orbit as reliably as the USA and USSR did back in the 1960s, so what makes him think he's going to be able to launch a Mars mission?

Answer is, he doesn't. It's a scam.
maybe true but if he cant someone else will, since the aerospace industry in growing and its getting more competitive which in turn will make but tech etc to be the first on Mars. YAY another space race has began I would not mind being one of those 80,000 people, defiantly go down in the history books and also as long we can get back as well, no one way trips.
