Sending the writers to do that could explain why they haven't gotten around to finishing the Iconian story line.

odd though, I wonder how long it will take for the U.S. Senate to bring this into attention. Probably have companies like PWE pay a gambling fee or have them obtain some sort of license, at least State wide.

I wouldn't be surprised, stuff thats been brought to the U.S. attention has been borderline weird.

Is it bad that watching US politicians try to talk about online gaming would likely be more entertaining than most of what you can do in STO?

Because a well-regulated marketplace is a healthy one. Some business practices do need to be banned.

Yeah I was a bit irked about this myself. "Instead of giving you clowns your ships in one go, we is gonna make you need multiple parts! So in essence you have to open xxxx times the boxes to get your ship!"

Not that there's a ship up for grabs for certain but there will be in the future, depending how this here goes. It's a guinea pig project on us just like last year's winter boxes that turned into lockboxes. If people bite at it, you can expect to see it the standard in the coming year. Whether this event is free or not is irrelevant. The point will be to test the waters with their next money making scheme. Which, btw, I would never complain about ever if they stopped clowning around and gave us more content. I'm tired of this game being stuck in limbo while they make money. Playing for free means jack**** when there's nothing to play. New romulus being the only meaningful addition since at least March is not what I call okay, and I seriously hope it did not take them all year just to give us New Romulus or this game is screwed. I await season 8 to make a final judgment.

You may be someone who watches only Fox News, with that kind of deregulatory attitude. Business practices that are more akin to scams that are run by criminal organizations should be banned, be they kompu gatcha or the infamous derivatives market.

Theres no Fox News here in Europe.
Most people like to go to schools and teach their kids to know how to choose. It seems in your country you need a "daddy" figure to tell you what you re allowed to buy and what not to buy because you are not fit to decide and protect yourself for the evil unarmed "salesman" .

There seems to be a lot of speculation about that sentence in the blog. While it also says that a blog will be out today (expect it around noon PST) explaining how the reward system works, let me give you all a sneak peek...

First: "...winter gift boxes that may contain parts to help build the best prize of all...:

When you read the word "may", it's not meant to be taken as a synonym for "have a chance to". I could see how you might do that from the context, but it's actually a "hey, you never know *wink* *wink*" may. Simply, when you do X to get the "parts" for Y, it's a guaranteed thing -- and, best part of all, it will be free. Just log in to play and you may just find yourself with a pretty nice Y (see what I did there? ).

Based on that, everyone will be able to get Y without having to worry about a chance (other than a chance that you won't be able to log in for an external reason), but X will need to be done. Y is the "best prize of all", and X is pretty simple. There are also a ton of other rewards, and while those use the same items as last year (Targ Earmuffs, Candles, etc.), the mechanic on how that works is being changed so it will be a lot easier to get the items you'd like as souvenirs.

I think players are going to be pleasantly surprised after reading the blog today It's the season of giving, and you'll be getting quite a bit from us. Happy Holidays!

Cheers,
