Something has changed recently so that contacts in the dialogue box are very dimly lit when on ground or interior maps. In space they are brightly lit, but on ground or interior maps they often have very dim lighting, making it difficult to see them clearly.
It looks like the light from the level is being used to light the contacts in the dialogue box, because as you move around the light changes. It really would be a lot better if the lighting was just constant in dialogue boxes, because right now it is hard to see the contacts sometimes.
To recreate just create a dialogue on an interior map, either storyline or map, and choose a contact for it. Or, if you really just want to see what I'm talking about you can load following map: U.S.S. Atlas Deck 13, Dereliction Duty, Project ID: ST-HAKXYCH4Y
