# 1 Fleet destroyer or fleet bop
12-16-2012, 03:22 AM
I am currently levelling up a tactical toon

This guy is going to be designed for pure damage

A couple of stfs I've run on my other toon I have seen both the fleet bop(the one with 4 tac consoles) and the fleet destroyer both laying down some serious firepower

Which one will be the best one to get when I reach lvl50

I do both pvp and pve and again it is designed for pure damage

Again your help would be great

It still largely depends on your playing style and what equipment you're intending to run ON the chassis you intend to buy-not all gear is created equally for the purpose.

A few things to consider, however:

1. Shots that miss don't do damage, and it's easier to hit a target when you can keep them "in the facing", so turn-rate might be of some concern if you are after "Pure Damage."

2. IF you can run Battlecloaks, you can raise your 'spike' damage in the first five seconds of decloaking past what you can derive from just the four tac consoles on a Hoh'sus. BoP comes with Battlecloak standard-as in equipped right out of the 'factory'.

BUT...

1. Taking a BoP means taking on a ship class with built-in issues, you're going to have one less weapons emplacement than anything else in the 'escort' range.

2. Hull and Shields-you can't do damage if you're respawning.

3. Federation Science vessels in the fedball with their advanced sensors and/or Photonic Shock Wave-PSW rips your cloak RIGHT OFF, and Da Fedz are grinding passives in the rep system faster than we are.

Thanks for reply

My first thoughts are disruptor dhcs but I also enjoy using Polarons with plasmonic leach and jemmy set for the 8% extra damage

My tactics are normally hit and run buy i can dtay and fight if theres no bug or defiant hailing doen on my red ass i am currently using the Destroyer the the leach comes with and it seems strong with better shields and hull than the bop u get at first Klingon rank

On the wiki it says that because destroyers don't have a cloak they have built in systems that provide a significant damage boost is there any truth in this

The bop I saw the other day was Hitting 8-9k per dhc shot fully buffed would the destroyer be capable of this(this guy was just running blue quality disruptor dhc apparently)

with the right consoles (Blue or purple, single energy) and the right weapons (DHC!!!) yes. the Plas Leech console interchanges and CAN be used on a BoP (I use it myself-or did for a while, I'm going back to it with all the Repgrind passives showing up these days, losing a single Shield Generator is annoying, but again, if it don't hit through the shield, it don't do damage...). also recommend you go over your toon's stats to gain maximum advantage with your firepower and manuevering. The all-universal layout for BoP Bridge officers means you can equip staff whose abilities again work to boost your damage output-you can (and I do) equip a Tac in both the Commander, AND LTC slots. TT is nicer than you might think- TT1 gives a boost to your torps, TT2 to your energy weps, and both give you a period of "automatic" shield redistribution to keep you alive between cloaks.

for the Destroyer, you're looking at a more 'regulated' situation-it TELLS you what you can put in each slot (i.e. no universals), so paying attention to your Duty Officers can be more important. With the Plas Leech equipped on either chassis, it's hard to go wrong running a Polaron boat backed up with a good single launcher-quantums do well unbuffed once you peel their shell of shield away, Transphasics are better if you're facing someone with the broken Rep-system shield passives (OP in the extreme, even the Devs admit it.)

Even TT1 gives you a power boost to your energy weapons. See here

And here is my BoP

Once you hit cap, grab a Mirror Raptor for almost free. Use that in PVE of all types. You will find that the escort style ship is the damage dealing/speedfreak monster that you need for endgame PVE. There are possibly 3 events where the BOP could be more handy than the Raptor, but if you're only going to have one ship, take the escort. Dont get confused about battlecloak, spike damage, or any of that. The escort will do it all better than a BOP.

On a side note.......KDF battle cruisers simply rock in the events that are more slugfest oriented, like the hive, as opposed to events like the vault ensnared (That's a great BOP event actually) or whatever the hell one it is where you need to escort the freighters.

Again, not saying you CAN'T use ONE ship for all purposes, but perhaps some of the fun is taking different ships to different parties!

My PVP experience is somewhat limited, but I prefer the BOP. Simply a preference there as I have used a Raptor and other escorts, I just like the BOP style.

Cheers, happy flying, and may you equip many ships for many different things!!

For pure raw damage and sustainability, your best off in a raptor or destroyer. The BoP brings other tricks to the table.

thanks for reply's...

Ive leveled to level 50 i got the free bop at lvl 40 and bought a mirror qin raptor

No matter what i seem to do with the exact same guns and consoles as each other the B.O.P. out damaged the raptor by a hell of allot even though the raptor has 4 tac consoles maybe it was the way i had it set up

I dont have a dps parser but going off each shot that hit in the bop fully buffed i can get 7-9k damage per DHC shot but in the raptor the best i could get was 4-6k

so based on that i don't really wanna buy a raptor

You're right. That's wierd. All else being equal means...all else being equal. And it isn't equal anyways, the raptor has more. So you may want to find out where the boo boo kitty is.

Cheers happy flying!

Did you check your weapon power levels? That's what came to mind first.
