If we are living in a Matrix, I'd try to hack it to get them there superpowers. or at least flight.

A Romulan Strike Team, Missing Farmers and an ancient base on a Klingon Border world. But what connects them? Find out in my First Foundary mission: 'The Jeroan Farmer Escapade'

Ah, so that's what the Mayan Calendar was all about. it gives the 'sunset date' for this simulation: 12/21/12 (or a week from today.)

Nice knowing you all.
More important (but less funny) question is what even happens if they get a positive result? Their set of criteria are interesting, because they're things quantum mechanics say should be happening anyway - that there is a minimum fundamental "resolution" to all dimensions, that there is a bottom limit to complexity, that there is inherent uncertainty in observation, and so on. The things they say are evidence of the limits of a simulation the rest of science has already identified and explained without the need of external limitations.

So, their experiments could potentially reaffirm certain aspects of science that prove the universe works as we expect it to if it were not a simulation... and that proves it's a simulation.

There's a reason the one unquestioned assumption of science is that the universe is. When you place that fact in question, nothing else really works. Even philosophy calls ideas like that off limits because once they've been entertained, every other debate becomes that debate - when the reality of reality itself is in question, reality must be established as context of every other idea.
