I acquired the Adapted MACO space set explicitly for the 2 piece set bonus that includes the following:

+25% Bonus to Torpedo Damage

Now sadly however the bonus is much less than it is supposed to be. At least not on the two launchers I use: Romulan Hyper-Plasma and Omega Plasma.

Here are the damage figures I get without any tac consoles to boost torpedo damage (and 125 weapon power in both instances):

Romulan Hyper Plasma:

2,401.3 without set
2,583.8 with set

Difference: 7.6%

Omega Plasma:

1,837.3 without set
1,969.9 with set

Difference: 7.2%

The price for this set was steep and I am unhappy with getting a set bonus so much worse than advertised. Please fix this.

It appears to be working as intended.

You should understand that the 25% boost is to base torpedo damage, and this is not multiplicative with increases from skill points and other consoles (I believe).

I have this bonus from my KHG set and it boosts my Rapid Reload Transphasic Torpedo by 244.5 damage. This gives a 11.5% boost to 2368.4 if you are looking at the item tooltip, or a 8.3% boost to 3189.8 if you are looking at the HUD tooltip.

All % increase bonuses to damage are not as straightfoward as the item descriptions may suggest.

I didn't have any damage affecting consoles equipped, so the only modifier would be skills. Is the effect from skills really this severe? My projectile ones are far from maxed.

For a base 25% bonus to add 182,5 damage (Hyper-Plasma) that means the base 730 would be getting a 229% damage bonus from only skills. Surely skills don't add that much?

I have to say I don't have the answers to how weapon damage scales with skill points. I have seen threads on it in the past, but that was a long time ago.

Your tac consoles operate in the same fashion to the set bonus. A phaser relay console that boosts by 26% doesn't actually add 26% damage to a phaser weapon.

So the next time you're drooling at a purple Mk 12 +30% tact console... it'll only raise your overall damage by 0.83% over your existing Mk 11 +26.2%

There are other places where the math is somewhat hidden as well. Say you have 9 ranks of Weapon Specialization, that's about 20% better than 6 ranks. Or +2% instead of +1.68% Was it worth the skill points though?
