Although I suspect that the reason everything else doesn't is because they want us to buy inventory slots.
I seem to remember an Ask Cryptic a couple of months ago where this question was asked and the answer was that they didn't want to provide too much storage ability. You can speculate as to the reason for that, but that's the official answer.
