# 1 AFK missions: yay or nay?

Apparently the new foundry reward rules have spawned a new kind of mission.

You go into the map, a bunch of weak enemies keep spawning being engaged by a powerful friendly NPC.
The friendly NPC is not in any real danger to lose, and takes care of all the weak enemies.
So the player can go afk and do other stuff while "earning" free dilithium and fleet marks.

It is certainly better than one click missions and afking in STFs and PvP maps, but it still is borderline cheating/exploiting the system.

At least it consumes time for the player without screwing over other players... I guess that'S something.

Can't say I'm a fun of that time of system. But, I guess if you wanted an AFK mission, make the mission less profitable if it were the NPC doing all the work, and indeed the NPC may not finish it completely, and player has to finish when he/she returns, as to not exploit the mission.

Yes this is obnoxious and if I run across one of these I'll one-star it and let the "author" know what I think but what I'm NOT going to do it get all bent out of shape about it or demand anything be "done" about it.

The simple fact is that no matter what system or controls you have in place someone will always find a way to game the system. If you constantly try to cut-off access to these exploits by adding new restrictions, one on top of another, then not only will you utterly fail to stop the exploits but you will hurt everyone else.

Let it go and just ignore them.

First, I have done these missions a few times...and felt a bit guilty every time.

Secondly, if this keeps STF/PvP AFK'ers from doing so, it's a better fix for that problem than the Dev's have offered us.

I really don't think this is any worse than kill 100 ship missions. Yes, that takes more effort, but you also get more out of it. From a story perspective, it makes just as little sense...often less sense actually.

If you ever offer someone free money/loots the majority are going to want it.

Check out my Foundry missions:
Standalone - The Great Escape - The Galaxy's Fair - Purity I: Of Denial - Return to Oblivion
The Defenders - Duritanium Man - The Improbable Bulk - [WIP] Commander Rihan

Well, the authors could at least label them as Boff capability testing missions, to "see if your Boffs are well skilled and geared" for other missions by having them fight on their own.
A little harder to justify this for random NPC ships in space maps.
