Fair is subjective. It is out of balance with how the system "rewards" doffs. Even if we were to "buy" doffs from the fleet vendor, it would still be scaled out of balance at a 10:4 ratio. A balanced project requirements would look like this for that same Tier 3 project - 93 Science, 37 Medical. Heck even round it to the nearest 10 doffs at 90 Science, 40 medical and it would be closer to balance.

Is there a reason this could not be rebalanced to give us a 50/50 chance per category? The main, if not only reason, for buying white fleet doffs is to fill the starbase projects. Its not so bad with engineering projects but science and tactical are very out of balance, typically i get about 200 tactical doffs just to fill the 90 security doff requirement on the 1000xp project, its allot of wasted fleet credits.

I can think of 2 easy fixes for this issue:

1. When opening fleet doff packs make it first a roll for which category, for military that would be either tactical or security, and then make a second roll for a random specialization. That way I might be left with a few extra doffs but not 100+.

2. Just change the requirements on the 1000xp projects to require doffs from either category, just like most of the other projects do. For tier 4 instead of requiring 90 doffs from 2 categories just make it 180 from either category.

Either option would be a great improvement to the starbase project system.

I can offer a third fix: Have 6 department specific boxes instead of 3, or split a third level of separation for another markup - 500 for any doff, 750 for a specific division, 850 for a specific department.

This issue has become exceedingly annoying since the S7 changes to the Doff Grinder.

Its far far too expensive to ever even try to grind up and down Doffs for a slim chance at a security or medical Doff. Even then, dilithium is just too expensive to use right now.

The exchange prices for the common specializations are extremely low, while the rares are extremely high. The value of green and blue Doffs is through the floor, there is no point for anyone but starting players to have these for a few weeks. Something is wrong when a blue tactical doff is less than a white security doff.

Right now its best to just mail yourself the excess Doffs and use them on larger upgrades later on, yes it abuses the system, but the devs made it so you have to abuse the system to play.. great vision there.

Foundry had its second update to FM rewards for FLEET content, while PvP is still waiting.

in other words +10000 then make these numbers be reflected in fleet contributions is 2.5 times the number of sci doff as opposed to medical doffs.

Or perhaps instead of requiring 70 of each type, which will require you to throw away a good portion of the doff's you purchase -- 140 of either would be a good alternative.

So why not add some options by allowing us to substitute other things for inputs. It's a bit mystifying that we cannot input a blue doff in place of three green ones or nine white ones. Perhaps that's a technical reason or something else.

So why not expand the list of projects instead to vary the types of inputs possible.

Right now we have say Project 1 that takes a certain number and type of inputs. Fine, so let us vary it a bit, give us Project 1A (takes green doffs), 1B (blue doffs) or Project 1$ (takes Zen in place of all inputs). You could even take ships as input, BOffs or whatever.
