Dear devs,

Pretty pretty please, for post-christmas, I would like plasma infused field generators and field emitter amplifiers (and the hull and shield proc thingies too) to show up at the romulan embassy.

I shall leave milk and cookies by the router.

Eh, I'm ok not having Field Generators in the Embassy. They're nice, but regen and such is usually more important.

Why are all of STO's EPs named 'Steve'?

Because it's supposed to be a boost to selected science consoles people tend not to choose because they slot universal ones instead.

Seriously? Regen is next to useless in combat - in STFs and PvP, all that matters is that (where possible) you keep your shield facings up - Field Gens help immensely by increasing your shield capacity.

Personally, I'm disappointed that the Field Gens aren't there - Mk XI rares are OK, but you're forced to run multiples of them - if I could get purple Mk XII's out of the Embassy (instead of paying 40,000,000 for them on the Exchange) I could actually experiment with other consoles.

TBH, the Embassy consoles are largely worthless to me.

I was very displeased by the lack of field generators on the embassy. They really let down the Escorts captains, and I suppose cruisers to. Unless your flying a science ship the only science console of value is the field generator, other consoles are all pretty worthless.

Field Gens are garbage unless you PvP.

Keeping shields up is important. If you slot a few shield heals typically +emitter skill will outperform Field Gens relatively quickly. Especially with the fleet ships and their improved base shields and hull and the reduction of damage from borg recently. I fly almost exclusively escorts and do not use field gens on any of them anymore.

I wasn't surprised they weren't there, as they've always been one of the most secretive consoles out there.

You must have a mix of capacity and regen for STFs, all regen with no capacity and you'll be one shotted constantly by borg torpedos, all capacity and no regen and you'll be running away after a few hits. The Maco w/regen boosts works well, but so do the borg with capacity boosts.

I do like the way these are clearly designed to improve the clearly nerfed science abilities and make science *slightly* more playable again.

That is clearly the point of these new consoles, not to give you all a cheap way to boost the shields on your super escort tank.

It should be noted that you can get Emitter Arrays which improve the shield heal abilities from the embassy and these may be more useful to you.

I disagree, if you add capacity to a regen shield you just make it less good at what it was doing in the first place, regenerating lost HP.

If you have no regen in anything your shields stay down for longer once someone has burned through them with their alpha strike, your extra capacity buys you a couple of seconds at best. (Unless you have good support, which if you have anyway you could have the standard shield and it wouldn't make much of a difference.)

Borg (invisi) torpedos can and will one shot you with a Paratrinic Shield Array and 4 field gens, so it's a flawed argument anyway.
