A Dervish is someone treading a Sufi Muslim ascetic path or "Tariqah", known for their extreme poverty and austerity, similar to mendicant friars in Christianity or Hindu/Buddhist/Jain sadhus.

thats the most powerful escort class ship in the fleet? named after a holy beggar?
agreed, totally doesn't fit an escort class ship. doesn't go with any of the other escort themed names. Its not that I don't like the name itself, I jreally just don't think that this one fits. I think it belongs on a cruiser class ship.

Congrats to the one(s) who selected Emissary for a ship name/class. It is definitely is deserving of a Federation title.

However, Dervish? Dervish sounds like something you would describe a mouse as being. Gimme a break. Then you look up the definition and have to wonder if the ships primary destination is a collision course with auto destruct activated so that the crew can enjoy afterlife virgins.

Destiny? don't even get me started. I used to have an ex-neighbor named Destiny who had like 8 kids with 8 different guys and lived off of everyone else. What an original and well thought out name.

If had known that we did not have to research intelligent words which fit accurate descriptions of the ships, I never would have spent time researching legit words in alternate languages such as Latin to come up with something original and creative, yet still cool sounding. I would have just picked names like Sponge, Brick, and Towel. At least a Towel class ship sounds useful. (and reusable)

Umm... Aries is a POS Dodge rust-bucket with a 2.2L and 84 horsepower, parked in a trailer park. Are you kidding?

Wonder how the voting was done. Seems all the contest done lately have some odd results. Would be interesting to see exactly how the voting was done. Though what's done is done, so congrats to the winners.
